Chengkou County Chengkou county is subordinate to Chongqing, located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the northeast of Chongqing, and at the junction of Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces (cities). In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Taiping County in eastern Sichuan Province (Taiping County was promoted to the hall in the seventh year of Jiaqing). There is an experience department at Chengkou. In the second year of Daoguang reign, Chengkou Hall (named Chengkou) was set up because there were Chengkou mountain and Chengkou River in the territory. During the period of the Republic of China, Chengkou hall was changed into Chengkou County in the second year of the Republic of China, belonging to suiding Prefecture of Eastern Sichuan. In the eighth year of the Republic of China, the warlords in Sichuan separated and formed the defense area system. Chengkou belonged to yandeji garrison area (located in Daxian county). In the 13th year of the Republic of China, Liu Cunhou was stationed in the defense area (Daxian county). In the 24th year of the Republic of China, the defense area system was ended and the new county system was implemented. Chengkou county is the ninth administrative supervision area of Sichuan Province, with Wanxian County as its office.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the people's Government of Chengkou county was established, which belongs to the office of commissioner of Wanxian special district of Sichuan Province. In 1968, the people's Government of Chengkou county was changed into the Revolutionary Committee of Chengkou County, which belongs to the Wanxian regional Revolutionary Committee of Sichuan Provincial Revolutionary Committee.

On January 1, 1998, Chengkou county was directly under the jurisdiction of Chongqing Municipality.
