Longgang District, Longgang District, under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northeast of Shenzhen city. It was established on November 11, 1992. The district government is located in Longcheng street. The administrative area is 388.22 square kilometers, east of Dayawan and Huizhou, West to Longhua, South to Luohu District and Yantian, from Dapeng Bay to Hongkong New Territories, Huizhou and Dongguan, North Korea, HUAWEI, and HUAWEI, with 2 million 278 thousand and 900 permanent residents, 653 thousand and 100 of whom have registered residence. In Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Dongguan County on Guangzhou road and Guishan County on Huizhou road.
In the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1573), it belonged to Xin'an County of Guangzhou Prefecture and Guishan County of Huizhou Prefecture. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it belonged to Xin'an County and Huiyang county.
In January of 2003, Longgang belonged to Baoan county and Huiyang county respectively. From the founding of the people's Republic of China to October 1958, it followed the old system. In November 1958, Longgang, Pingshan, Dapeng and other places were under the jurisdiction of Baoan county.
In January 1979, Bao'an county was changed into Shenzhen City, and Longgang belonged to it.
Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was established in August 1980.
In December 1992, with the approval of the State Council, the organizational system of Bao'an county was abolished and Longgang District and Bao'an District were established under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen Municipality.
On January 1, 1993, Longgang District of Shenzhen city was established. The original 10 towns in the east of Bao'an County, including Buji, Pinghu, Henggang, Longgang, Pingdi, Pingshan, Kengzi, Kuichong, Dapeng and Nan'ao, were under the jurisdiction of Longgang District.
In December 1992, with the approval of the State Council, the organizational system of Bao'an county was abolished, and Longgang District and Bao'an District were established under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen Municipality. On January 1, 1993, Longgang District of Shenzhen Municipality was established.
In September 2016, the State Council approved the establishment of Pingshan district by Pingshan street and Kengzi street of Longgang District (Pingshan New Area).
Longgang District, Shenzhen
From 2000 to 2002, Longgang District governed 10 towns (Longgang, Kengzi, Pingshan, Henggang, Buji, Kuichong, Dapeng, Nan'ao, Pinghu, Pingdi), 90 village committees and 23 neighborhood committees.
On November 26, 2003, Longgang District abolished Longgang Town and set up two sub district offices. The party working committees and offices of Longgang and Longcheng were officially established on January 1, 2004. The newly established Longgang sub district has a total area of 64.12 square kilometers, which governs seven village committees of Xinsheng, Shengping, Nanlian, Nanyue, Tongle, Longdong and Longgang, and two communities of Longgang and Pingnan. The office is located in the original Longgang town government. The newly established Longcheng sub district covers a total area of 61.14 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over the original four village committees of Ailian, HuiLongPu, Longxi and Wulian in Longgang Town, the lichiyuan village group in Shengping village, and the three communities of Ziwei, Tianjian and Yuyuan in Longgang town.
By December 31, 2005, Longgang District had jurisdiction over 11 streets, including Longgang, Longcheng, Kengzi, Pingshan, Henggang, Buji, Kuichong, Dapeng, Nan'ao, Pinghu and Pingdi.
In 2006, Buji street was divided into three sub district offices: Buji, Bantian and Nanwan. The total area of the original Buji street is 84.12 square kilometers, and its resident population is 1 million 50 thousand, with a population of 118 thousand and 300 or more. The registered residence population is 34. On April 29, Buji, Bantian and Nanwan streets were officially established.
On May 31, 2010, the State Council officially decided to expand the territory of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone to Shenzhen. Longgang District and Bao'an District, including Guangming New District and Pingshan New District, were included in the territory of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
In 2010, Longgang District governed 13 streets, including Longgang, Longcheng, Kengzi, Pingshan, Henggang, Buji, Kwai Chung, Dapeng, Nan'ao, Pinghu, Pingdi, Bantian and Nanwan.
As of June 2020, Longgang District has 14 streets: Pinghu street, Pingdi street, Kuichong street, Dapeng street, Nan'ao street, Nanwan street, Bantian street, Buji street, Longcheng street, Longgang street, Henggang street, Jihua street, Baolong street and Yuanshan street.
Longgang District is located in the northeast of Shenzhen City, adjacent to Pingshan District in the East, Luohu District and Yantian District in the south, Longhua District in the west, Huizhou City and Dongguan City in the north. Its total area is 388.21 square kilometers.
Longgang District has a pleasant climate, mild in four seasons and abundant sunshine. It belongs to subtropical marine monsoon climate. Longgang District is close to the mountains and the sea, with a coastline of 133 km. The beach, islands, reefs, sea erosion cliffs, caves, bridges, pillars and other marine erosion landforms are well developed. The beach of Dapeng Peninsula in Longgang District is selected as the National Geopark.
The coast of Longgang District belongs to mountainous coast type, which can be divided into Haiya mountainous coast and Gangwan mountainous coast. The former is characterized by high cliff (30M ~ 0m), steep slope (45o) and deep water (5m, etc. the shallower line is close to the coast); the latter is characterized by promontory at the mouth of the Bay, sandbank and lagoon plain in the Bay, and 16 large harbors on the East Coast.
Longgang District is rich in water resources with many rivers and reservoirs. There are more than 50 rivers including Longgang River, Pingshan River, Kwai Chung River, Wumu River, Xinda River, Pengcheng River, Dongyong River, Shawan River and Buji river. Longgang River and Pingshan River Basin have a large area of flat and fertile land, which is an important industrial and agricultural production area in Longgang District. There are 266 Shantang reservoirs with a total water storage capacity of 158.15 million cubic meters. There are gankeng reservoir, Shiao reservoir, songzikeng reservoir and Huangdong reservoir.
