Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County, subordinate to Huaihua City, Hunan Province, is located in the west of Hunan Province. It is located in the southern foot of Wuling mountain system and the extension zone of eastern Yunnan Guizhou Plateau. It is adjacent to Zhongfang county and Hecheng District in the East, Hongjiang City, Huitong County and Tianzhu County in Guizhou Province in the south, Xinhuang Dong Autonomous County and Wanshan District in Guizhou Province in the west, Mayang Miao Autonomous County and Tongren City in Guizhou Province in the north. Zhijiang county was established in the fifth year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (202 BC). Zhijiang Town, the seat of the county, is the seat of the state government for six times.
