Shuangqing District Shuangqing District is located in the southeast of Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. It is adjacent to Shaodong county in the East and Xinshao County in the northeast. In the southwest, it has a strip of water with Daxiang district, with Shaoshui as the boundary. In the northwest, it faces Beita district across the river, with Zijiang as the boundary. It has a total area of 139.6 square kilometers. It governs one Township, two towns, nine streets and houses 19 ethnic groups, including Han and Hui.

Shuangqing District urban trunk roads crisscross, Lou Shao railway, 320 National Road, 207 National Road through the territory. There are many historical sites in Baoqing, including Shuangqing autumn moon, Longqiao Tiexi, Shehu Xueji, Luoyang Xiandong, etc. there are 19 cultural sites, including the former site of the Eighth Route Army Office in Hunan, including one at the provincial level and three at the municipal level. On January 29, 2021, Hunan Provincial People's government announced that it was a county or city with remarkable achievements in promoting high-quality development and was awarded a standard reward of 1 million yuan.

Historical evolution

Shuangqing District was established in October 1997 by the adjustment of the administrative division of Shaoyang City. It is composed of six townships in the main part of the former Eastern District and the suburbs. It is named after the "Shuangqing Autumn Moon" in Baoqing.

On August 29, 1997, the eastern, Western and suburban districts of Shaoyang City were abolished, and Shuangqing District, Daxiang district and Beita District of Shaoyang City were adjusted and established. Shuangqing District has jurisdiction over six streets of longxutang, bus station, xiaojianghu, railway station, Qiaotou and Dongfeng Road in the former East District, and six townships of railway station, gaochongshan, Chengdong, Shiqiao, Yunshui and Jilong in the former suburb. The people's Government of Shuangqing District is stationed in Jianshe Road. It got its name from the scenic spot "Shuangqing Autumn Moon". In October of the same year, it was officially established.

According to the fifth census in 2000, there are 262658 permanent residents in Shuangqing District, including 16931 in Xinglong Street, 28109 in longxutang street, 46007 in bus station street, 32358 in Xiaojiang street, 23870 in Dongfeng Road Street, 18262 in Qiaotou street, 21664 in gaochongshan Town, 15040 in dutouqiao Town, 10852 in Chengdong Township, 16714 in Shiqiao Township, 18327 in Railway Station Township and 14524 in Yunshui township People.

In 2002, Shuangqing District had jurisdiction over 6 streets, 4 townships, 2 towns, 70 neighborhood committees and 73 villages. The total population is more than 260000, including 170000 in urban areas and 90000 in rural areas. The total area is 139.6 square kilometers, including 27 square kilometers in urban areas and 112.6 square kilometers in rural areas.

In 2004, Shuangqing District had jurisdiction over 6 streets, 2 towns and 4 townships: Xinglong Street, longxutang street, bus station street, Xiaojiang Lake Street, Dongfeng Road Street, Qiaotou street, gaochongshan Town, dutouqiao Town, Chengdong Township, Shiqiao Township, Railway Station Township and Yunshui township.

Xinglong Street governs six communities: train, Lishan, shijingpu, Guanyintang, crape myrtle and automobile.

Longxutang Street governs nine communities, namely WULITANG, Xinhua, shijiayuan, longxutang, Zhuxi, Baiyun, Yangxi, Jianshe and Yongcui.

Bus station street jurisdiction Dongta, baishouting, Sanyanjing, maziwa, shazipo, Jianshe Road, Xiufeng, Shiqiao 8 communities.

Xiaojianghu Street governs eight communities, namely Tabei, zongshuling, Changling, yanjialong, Shuangqing, Wuyi, Jianghu and Binhu.

Dongfeng Road Street governs eight communities, namely Baodong, tieshaling, guluting, shaoshuiqiao, Baoning street, Tongheng street, Dongfeng Road and Baima.

Qiaotou Street governs five communities: Yuejin Road, Zhonghe street, Luoyang cave, xiaojiapai and Renmin lane.

Gaochongshan town has 15 village committees: gaochongshan, Changmu, Dongjiao fishing ground, Xiaopi, Liuyang, Daxing, Helong, Dayuan, Niaoshan, xiejiang, Mashi, Xinglong, Yangmei, Daijin and Xingjia.

Dutouqiao town governs 13 village committees including Dutou, Xinmin, Xinzhou, Minsheng, Jiangkou, Guanghui, Hengtang, Laotang, Jingquan, Yantang, Qunli, Jilong and celery.

Chengdong Township governs Wulipai, Jintai and Shehu communities, and Yangxi, Hanmei and Baihe Village Committees.

Shiqiao Township governs the improved variety community; 11 village committees, including Wuyi, tea farm, Dapo, Lixin, agricultural science station, Shiqiao, Pingfeng, Baima, Jinxing, Zhumu and Ma'an.

The Railway Station Township governs three communities of Gutang, Hongqi and Yuejin, and 12 village committees of Baiyun, Chunfeng, Gaojia, Zhujia, Lianhe, Yangliu, Shuikou, Qianjin, Lujia, quantang, Lishan and Jixian.

Yunshui Township governs 12 village committees, namely, happy village, Shengli village, Yunshui village, Dashui village, Gaoqiao village, Changlin village, hengmu village, Feitian village, Caiqiao village, Liuzhou Village, Shatang village and Baolong village. In 2015, according to the township zoning adjustment plan of Shuangqing District of Shaoyang City, yunshuipu Township and Xinglong Street formed an organic system and merged to establish Xinglong Street. Abolish the system of Chengdong and Shiqiao, adjust the jurisdiction of Dongfeng Road and longxutang, and merge the administrative area of Shiqiao and Shehu community of Chengdong into Dongfeng Road. Two villages, Baihe and Hanmei, and three communities, Wulipai, Jintai and Yangxiqiao, were merged into longxutang street.

In this round of township administrative division adjustment, Shuangqing District of Shaoyang City has abolished three township level organizational systems. It now governs Railway Station Township, gaochongshan and dutouqiao towns, and xiaojianghu, Qiaotou, bus station, longxutang, Dongfeng Road and Xinglong 6 streets, with a total area of 139.6 square kilometers and a total population of 312500. The resident of the District People's government remains unchanged (taojiachong community, Baoqing East Road).

As of December 31, 2019, Shuangqing District has jurisdiction over 9 streets, 2 towns and 1 township. After comparison, three streets have been added on the basis of 2015, including Ailian street, Shiqiao street and Binjiang street.

Shuangqing District is located in the south of central Hunan Province, east of Shaoshui, south of Zijiang, north of Xinshao, east of Shaodong, southwest and northwest of Daxiang and Beita.

Shuangqing District is located in hengshao Hilly Basin, with undulating hills and gentle terrain. Land accounts for 90.84%, water accounts for 9.16%, and cultivated land area is 73818 mu.

Shuangqing District is located at the intersection of Zijiang River and Shaoshui river. It is rich in water resources, with large and small rivers crisscrossing in it. The water storage of the reservoir is 4.5 million cubic meters, and 9.8 kilometers of standard canals are built.

Shuangqing District is a subtropical monsoon humid climate, full of light, abundant rain, four distinct seasons, mild climate.

Natural resources

Shuangqing District is rich in agricultural and sideline products, mainly including greenhouse vegetables, oranges, grapes, strawberries, medicinal materials, water chestnut, lotus root, etc. Water resources are abundant. There are placer gold, coal, iron, manganese, vanadium, marble, high-quality limestone, etc.

The quality of bituminous coal is excellent. Xindong, xiaojiachong and xiaopiqiao coal mines are located in the city.

There are 3261.3 hectares of forest land, with a forest coverage rate of 24.1%. It has 3210 hectares of arable land and 330 hectares of aquaculture water.
