Maojian district is subordinate to Shiyan City, Hubei Province. Shiyan political, economic and cultural center is located in the middle of Shiyan City. Starting from Shiyan Economic Development Zone in the East, it is adjacent to Liuliping town of Danjiangkou City; in the west, it is connected with Zhangwan district along the Northeast southwest line of Sifang mountain Bijia mountain Niutou mountain in the center of the city; in the south, it is adjacent to Dachuan town and Fangxian County; in the north, it is adjacent to Wuyan street and Hanjiang Road street of Zhangwan district.

Historical evolution
The name of Maojian District evolved from the name of maojiantang village. In ancient times, there was a pointed earth beam in Maojian hall, which stretched out to the bend of the river. It was shaped like an arrow and covered with thatch, so it was named "Maojian".
According to the records of Yunyang in the ninth year of Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1870 A.D.), there are nine Tangxun in Yunxian County Maojian Lutang, 70 Li south of the city ("Tang" was an organization with armed personnel stationed by the feudal ruling class to maintain local public order and deliver official documents), "Maojian Lutang" was set up in Maojian hall, which was abolished in the early Republic of China. At that time, people used to call it "Jiantang", or "Maojian" for short. Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Shiyan district government.
