Du menmianbi
Du menmianbi, a Chinese idiom, Pinyin is d ù m é nmianb ì, which means self-cultivation behind closed doors. It comes from the answer to Wang Youan's xuandeqi.
The origin of Idioms
Su Shi's answer to Wang You'an's xuandeqi in Song Dynasty: "Du men faces the wall and looks at the sixty years' mistakes."
Idiom usage
Used as predicate or object; used in seclusion. example only when he comes home and faces the wall, can he get rid of his guilt. In answer to Liao Ming Lue (2), "it's very poor, only to return to the field, to face the wall, and to have nothing else to do."
