In the face of the strong offensive of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Gongsun Shu dispatched troops to resist, but he was defeated step by step, and the Wu and Han Dynasties won successive battles and approached Chengdu. Since then, the two sides have fought to the death between Guangdu and Chengdu, winning and losing each other. Gongsun Shu even took out all the treasures in the national treasury, recruited 5000 people who dared to die, beat the drum to challenge, and secretly sent surprise soldiers to sneak around the back of the Han army. In November of this year, Gongsun Shu led tens of thousands of people out of Chengdu City to fight against Wu and Han Dynasties. The two armies fought for several days. Gongsun Shu was defeated and fled. At last, he was overtaken by the Han Army, pierced his chest, fell off his horse and died that night. The next day, Gongsun Shu's men saw that the situation had gone and abandoned the city to surrender. Liu Yu, deputy general of the Han Army, led his troops into the city, killed Gongsun Shu's wife and family, cut off Gongsun Shu's head and sent a flying horse to Luoyang. At the same time, he plundered and burned everywhere. When the news spread to the capital, Emperor Guangwu Liu Xiu was very angry and issued a special edict to condemn Liu Yu: "this city has surrendered, and there are tens of thousands of old women, children and people in the city. Once they set fire and kill people, everyone will feel sad and angry. Ordinary people, even if they have a broken broom at home, cherish it very much, but you don't care for people's life and property! How can you be so cruel that you have the heart to do so?
