Zhang Xueliang is a man who doesn't want to manipulate. He claims to be a stubborn man. He has his own ideas and opinions. He thinks that he can do things as he sees fit. Zhang Xueliang said that Xi'an Incident has no personal interests, and he didn't think about anything related to his position and interests. Because he is in power and wealth, he doesn't want anything, so Mr. Jiang can forgive him. There is only one purpose of self sacrifice, that is, not to fight civil war. Zhang Xueliang said that he fought at the age of 21, and he hated civil war.

As the initiator of Xi'an Incident, Zhang Xueliang also played an important role in promoting its peaceful settlement. Not only that, in order to protect Jiang's safety, he also used his own head as a guarantee. On the morning of December 13, 1936, when meeting with representatives of the Nanjing government, Zhang Xueliang said that as long as the chairman could change his attitude and adopt his opinions, he would personally send him back to Nanjing. It can be seen that Zhang Xueliang used his best efforts to guide the Xi'an Incident towards a peaceful settlement. It can be seen that the peaceful settlement of Xi'an Incident is closely related to Zhang Xueliang's mediation and great sacrifice, and his historical position should be fully affirmed.
