Character controversy

There are different opinions about the year of Zhu Xiaochun's birth and death. It is verified that Zhu Xiaochun was born on March 2, 1729, the seventh year of Yongzheng period, and can be determined by the title of the third poem in Haiyu Shichao. The title of the poem is "the second day of Wuzi's March return to Central Guizhou, the day when he painted Chishui is his 40th birthday, and eryin yuruntang wrote a poem for drinking and eating.". Yao Nai wrote a preface to Hai Yu Shi Chao: "ten years after his death, Bai Quan, the eldest son, observed the governor of grain production in Jiangnan and proofread and engraved his collection. Nai and Mr. Wang Yuqing recorded it together. It is called Hai Yu Shi Chao, which has 12 volumes. In April of the 59th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong, Yao Nai in Tongcheng wrote a preface. It can be seen that Zhu Xiaochun's death was not later than the 49th year of Qianlong (1784).
