Wang Xu, a water conservancy expert in the Eastern Han Dynasty. The word is Meng Jian. Donglai (now Laizhou) people. In the third year of emperor Yangjia's reign (A.D. 132), he served as a dike visitor and was responsible for the defense of the Yellow River. In the past, when building embankments for flood control, bamboo cages filled with soil were often used to plug the breach, which was time-consuming, laborious and costly. He ordered his subordinates to dig stones in the mountains and build stone barriers in the dangerous places, so as to consolidate the dykes and reduce the river disasters, which was praised by the imperial court.
