How to save oneself in case of fire in public gathering place

The following points should be noted when escaping:

(1) Protect the respiratory system. When escaping, the mouth and nose can be covered tightly with towel or napkin cloth, mask, clothes, etc., otherwise the respiratory system will be burned by hot air, resulting in the risk of suffocation.

(2) Evacuation from passageways, such as evacuation stairs, outdoor evacuation stairs, etc. Can also consider the use of windows, balconies, lightning wires, downpipes and so on.

(3) Use the rope to slide out of danger. Use a strong rope or tear the curtains, sheets and bedding into strips and twist them into ropes. After wetting them with water, tie them to a firm heating pipe, window frame and bedstead. The trapped people slide down the rope one by one to the next floor or the ground.

(4) To the lower level, you can choose to jump away from the building. Before jumping, first throw some soft objects such as quilts and coats to the ground, then hold the window with your hands, droop and slide naturally to shorten the jumping height.

(5) Temporary refuge. In the case of no way to escape, the toilet can be used for temporary refuge. When taking refuge, the doors and windows should be drenched with water, and all combustibles in the room should be drenched to prolong the time.

You should also avoid the following wrong behaviors:

(1) Get out of danger the same way.

(2) Escape to the light.

(3) Follow blindly.

(4) Escape to a high place.

(5) Shout blindly.

(6) Open doors and windows.

(7) Risk jumping.
