Guangzhou Uprising Memorial
Guangzhou Uprising Memorial Hall, the former site of Guangzhou commune, is the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau of the former national government. It is located at No. 200, uprising Road, Guangzhou City, China. It is the site of Guangzhou commune, a Soviet government founded by the uprising of Guangzhou led by Zhang Tailei of the Communist Party of China.
In December 2016, Guangzhou Uprising Memorial Hall was selected into the list of national red tourist attractions.
history
On December 11, 1927, Zhang Tailei and others launched the Guangzhou Uprising in Guangzhou. The workers' Red Guards attacked the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau on Weixin Road (now Guangzhou Uprising Road). On the afternoon of December 12, the Guangzhou Soviet government announced its establishment here. After the failure of Guangzhou Uprising, the Soviet government was abolished immediately. Although Guangzhou commune is only three days old, it is the first Soviet government established in China's big cities, known as "Oriental Paris Commune"
.
After the liberation of Guangzhou in 1949, the Public Security Bureau was taken over by the Guangzhou Municipal People's government and established here. In 1956, Guangzhou municipal government opened the south building to the exhibition room of Guangzhou Uprising. In 1987, the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau handed over the south building, middle building and gatehouse to the cultural relics department, and then repaired and restored the site and established the Guangzhou Uprising Memorial. Ye Jianying once wrote "the former site of Guangzhou commune". Due to the limited office space of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau, it was not until the end of 2005 that Guangzhou Public Security Bureau handed over the remaining North Building and detention center to the cultural relics department. In 2006, the museum began to be rebuilt. During this period, shells, pistols and other cultural relics were excavated from the North Building of the former site. It reopened in 2007.
Although all the sites were finally handed over by the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, it is still next to the Guangzhou Uprising Memorial Hall, sharing the same brand with the Guangzhou Uprising Memorial Hall.
The former site was selected as a national key cultural relics protection unit by the State Council in 1961. At the same time, the Guangzhou Uprising Memorial is subordinate to the Guangdong revolutionary history museum.
