Chen Baoyi's mother was gong fanhong, who was born in 1912 (the first year of the Republic of China). Gong fanhong was born in a family of opera and drama, and married Chen feinong, a husband who was also a Cantonese Opera actress and formerly known as Chen Jinglian. Chen Baozhu was their adopted daughter. Chen feinong and his wife once formed a "feinong Troupe" with Baozhu, and a family of three performed "Sanniang Godson" on the same stage.

Personal life

Chen Baoyi's husband is Luo Lelin, a Hong Kong TV drama actor. Luo Lelin's most familiar performance is playing Ye Tian, the "God of stocks" who is insane due to stock speculation in the Hong Kong drama "the big time".
