Ximen Island

Yueqing Bay beach wetland (including the coastal wetland of Ximen Island) is listed as an important bird area by the International Union for the protection of birds. It has world-class endangered birds black Headed Gull, black faced Spoonbill, national second-class protected animals yellow billed egret, spotted billed pelican and a large number of wetland waterbirds.

The mangrove area of Ximen island is the northernmost mangrove in China and the only island mangrove planting area in Zhejiang Province.

Ximen Island

Ximen Island, Yandang Town, Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province is located in the north of Yueqing Bay, which belongs to Yandang town. Human history

There are four villages on the island, nanaoshan, Aoli, Ximen and Shanhou. The land area of the island is 6.97 square kilometers, and there are more than 4800 people living there. Most of the islanders live by fishing for generations.

In the ancient temple at the entrance of Nan'ao mountain village, there is an ancient camphor tree with simple trunk and luxuriant branches. The tree is more than 600 years old. The main surnames of the villagers here are Zhang, Chen, Zhang, Zhao, etc., and they share the same surname and ancestry with the shore. Therefore, it is speculated that their ancestors should have come here one after another. The development history of Ximen island is at least 600 years.

Social evaluation

"The mangroves here are very valuable! Well protected, too! " The day before yesterday, six experts from the delegation of the University of brapa in Thailand spoke highly of the mangroves on Ximen Island, Yandang Town, Yueqing City. They believe that mangrove wetland is the key ecological area of coastal zone, which is of great significance to the protection of marine environment.

The mangroves in Yueqing Bay are introduced artificially. Since 1957, the fishermen of Ximen island have introduced 122 mangroves from Fujian Province. The survival rate and preservation rate are both high. After 20 or 30 years of natural propagation, the number of mangroves reaches several thousand, and the area has expanded to 150 mu. However, after several decades, due to various reasons, the former beautiful marine forest mangrove, only a corner of the northwest about 3 mu. It was not until the last two years that the value of mangroves was gradually recognized by more people. Since 2001, through artificial planting, the mangrove forest in Ximen island has increased to more than 100 mu.

Special research

Provincial Institute of marine aquaculture, Wenzhou Medical College, Wenzhou Vocational and technical college and other units will cooperate to carry out special research on the restoration, protection, reconstruction and development of mangroves in Ximen island.

The delegation from the University of brapa in Thailand visited the mangrove belt in Ximen Island, and had a detailed understanding of the mangrove development framework and general ideas, and had a discussion and exchange on mangrove protection. Experts believe that the development prospect of Mangrove in Ximen island is broad, and the selection of tree species should be adapted to local conditions. The coastal wetland of Ximen island is very suitable for the growth of low temperature resistant mangroves. They will provide technical assistance for mangrove development and research in Ximen island and give guidance for mangrove protection.

Future construction

For many years, the tourism of Yandang Mountain is mainly to see the mountains and waterfalls. Now we have seen the clue of its transformation, pointing to a broader development space - Ximen island tourism development project, showing people the integration of mountains and sea.

In the tourism planning of Ximen Island, the film and Television Cultural Park is one of the most important plays. The film and television shooting areas will include Ming and Qing manor, European manor, modern architecture street, antique village, classical palace, characteristic ship wharf and other shooting areas.

The planned Ximen island ocean resort will also build a five-star hotel, a convalescent area for veteran cadres, a folk street and a seafood street.
