Xitang village is a provincial civilized village in Jiangsu Province, a pilot village of modern new rural construction in Wuxi City, and a patriotic education base in Wuxi City. In the early 1980s, Xitang village was the first hundred million yuan Village in Jiangsu Province and one of the top ten Wealthy Villages in China.

In 2016, it was listed as one of the six richest villages in China.

Historical evolution

In 1983, the first "Yiyuan village" in Jiangsu province came here. In the 1990s, it was shortlisted as one of the top ten well-off villages in China. Party and state leaders Li Peng, Li Ruihuan and Deng Yingchao, as well as government delegation from more than 100 countries and regions, including the United States, France and Japan, visited here first and then.

Xitang Guanghui Park, built in the spring of 2003, covers an area of more than 70 mu, with a total investment of more than 14 million yuan. In the park, there are artificial lakes, rockery bridges, pavilions and pavilions, old people's Gate Stadium and fitness square, and all kinds of precious flowers and trees are planted. The first tower of Huishan, Guanghui tower, which is 48.8 meters high, stands in the center of the park, symbolizing the fruitful achievements of Xitang village's economic and social development.

In 2004, the whole village achieved a sales revenue of 737 million yuan and paid 35.58 million yuan of state taxes and fees. By the end of 2004, a total of 452 villas had been built and the old houses had been basically demolished.

The village pays more than 1.3 million yuan of old age pension every year, and has a five-star elderly activity room including chess room, gym, reading room, library and gate court. The village elderly apartment with a total investment of more than 2 million yuan will also be completed by the end of 2005.

Rural characteristics

As a patriotic education base in Wuxi City, Xitang village also has distinctive rural characteristics.
