Located in Beilun District, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, Mt. Zongtai is the highest mountain in the east of Chuanshan peninsula.

Introduction to scenic spots

The highest mountain in the east of Chuanshan peninsula is called Zongtai mountain. At an altitude of 309.2 meters, Zongtai mountain faces Zhujiajian of Zhoushan archipelago across the sea. It is one of the important military fortresses in the history of eastern Zhejiang. The top of the mountain clearly overlooks Meishan port, luotou waterway and zhitou ocean. There is a beacon tower site on the top of the mountain. The beacon tower was built in 1387 A.D. in the 20th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, which was called santashan tower at that time. It was still used in the Qing Dynasty. Shengzongtai had five beacon towers: Gaoshan, tuze, Guanshan, Meishan and xiaguangshu. The building structure of Zongtai Shantai is unique. The platform foundation is trapezoidal, 7 meters above and 8 meters below, 3.7 meters high; it is rammed with sand and soil, very solid. It is built on a stone house, 1.8 meters high, 2.8 meters wide and 2.5 meters deep. It is hard on the top of the mountain and covered with stones. The stone columns and beams are combined with mortise and tenon. The four walls are built with stones and the south gate is opened. At present, the preservation is basically complete.
