Zhoushan Museum

Located in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, Zhoushan museum is a comprehensive museum integrating collection, protection, research, exhibition and education. The museum opened in October 1986. In the early 1990s, in order to implement the religious policy and return the Zuyin temple to the Buddhist Association, Zhoushan museum was closed. Zhoushan museum was rebuilt in 1995, completed in 1998 and opened to the public in January 2000. In June 2014, the old Zhoushan museum was closed. On December 27, 2014, the new Zhoushan museum was put into trial operation, which is located in Zhoushan Marine Culture and Art Center on the inside of Haitian Avenue in Zhoushan City.

The building area of Zhoushan museum is 14100 square meters. The facade of the building is divided by silver gray geometric block surface, and the depression gap is filled with blue, which symbolizes the numerous islands and reefs in Zhoushan. The total exhibition area of Zhoushan museum is 6120 square meters.

Zhoushan Museum has three basic exhibition rooms: "beautiful home Zhoushan natural Exhibition", "fishing style and Sea Charm Zhoushan folk Exhibition", "archipelago Zhoushan history exhibition". As of August 2019, the collection of Zhoushan museum is 3000 pieces (groups).

In 2009, Zhoushan museum was rated as a national third level museum.

Historical evolution

In August 1984, Zhoushan museum was planned to be built with Zuyin temple as the museum building.

In October 1986, Zhoushan Museum opened.

In the early 1990s, in order to implement the religious policy and return the Zuyin temple to the Buddhist Association, Zhoushan museum was closed.

In 1995, Zhoushan museum began to build again.

In 1998, Zhoushan museum was completed.

In 2000, Zhoushan Museum moved to South Ring Road, Dinghai.

In January 2000, Zhoushan Museum opened to the public.

In June 2014, the old Zhoushan museum was closed.

The basic display of Zhoushan Museum on the first floor is "Tianbao Haizhou Zhoushan natural display", the second floor is "fishing style Haiyun Zhoushan folk display", and the third floor is "archipelago Zhoushan history display". In addition, the museum is equipped with two temporary (special) exhibition halls on the first and third floors, which are used to display temporary (special) exhibitions of imported and original exhibits.

Zhoushan Museum has a collection of ceramics, jades, calligraphy and paintings, including rhinoceros horn, lotus leaf tiger cup, Ming and Qing painting, Ning style furniture, etc., as well as fossils of late Pleistocene ancient mammals, such as the ancient rhombus, the De's buffalo and the four deer. As of August 2019, the collection of Zhoushan museum is 3000 pieces (groups).

Scientific research status

In 2018, Zhoushan Museum, in accordance with the Interim Measures for project management of Zhoushan Museum, implemented the strategy of "research process report, stage achievement display, and final report review", completed six library level research projects, including "Research on Spanish silver coins in the collection", "Research on stationery in the collection of Zhoushan Museum", and completed two municipal level research projects, "current situation of mobile cultural relics protection in Zhoushan City" The development and implementation of the educational function of museums for teenagers. Zhoushan Museum has signed a contract with Hangzhou Yinmei and Zhejiang University to launch the scientific and technological protection project "research and application of digital museum system architecture for small and medium-sized museums" of the Provincial Bureau of cultural relics. More than ten people published professional articles in provincial and municipal journals.

In 2018, Zhoushan Museum launched the "museum on paper" cultural and Museum column in Zhoushan evening news, weekly to introduce cultural and Museum knowledge and promote Zhoushan history and culture, with a total of 52 contributions.
