Chuihongqiao site

In Songling Town, Wujiang City. Founded in the eighth year of Qingli (104th year) of the Northern Song Dynasty, it is known as Changqiao. Chuihongqiao site

Chuihong bridge, originally a wooden bridge, was founded in the eighth year of Qingli (1048 A.D.) in the Northern Song Dynasty. It was destroyed in the war in the first year of Deyou (1275 A.D.) and rebuilt into 85 holes in the same year. In the eighth year of Dade in the Yuan Dynasty (A.D. 1304), 99 Holes were added, and soon the bridge collapsed more than 50 Zhang. It was not until the second year of TAIDING (A.D. 1325) that Zhang Xianzu, the magistrate of the county, changed the wood into stone and rebuilt it into a joint arch stone bridge. It was all built with white stone, with a length of more than 500 meters and 72 holes. According to historical records, at that time, Chuihong bridge had three ups and downs, with a ring like a half moon and a length like a Chuihong, so it got its name. The bridge hole is higher than the general bridge hole, which is convenient for boating and flood discharge. There are two pavilions on each side of the bridge, and four stone lions. They are lifelike and magnificent. In the middle of the bridge, there is a bridge pavilion, named Chuihong Pavilion. Pavilion for a square plane, nine ridge cornice, two arches in front and back, can pass people, unique. The completion of the chuihongshi bridge eliminated the last dangerous Dadu of the Suzhou Hangzhou post road. Since then, merchants gathered and ink men gathered, and Wujiang has become a city of cars and boats. Scholars of all ages left many poems depicting Chuihong bridge.

It collapsed on May 2, 1967. The site was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Wujiang County in 1986. In 1996 and 2005, Wujiang Municipal People's government successively repaired 17 holes in the west end and east end of the site. In June 2006, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu province again. Now the municipal Party committee and government have established Chuihong Heritage Park.

"Chuihong night moon" has become one of the eight scenic spots in Wujiang.
