Jiangsu Huanghai National Forest Park is located in Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, formerly known as Dongtai Forest Farm established in 1965. The forest park is composed of the Hailin area and the seaside area, which is the largest artificial ecological forest park in East China.

Jiangsu Huanghai seashore National Forest Park belongs to the north subtropical monsoon climate zone. The vegetation is mainly artificial deciduous broad-leaved forest and evergreen broad-leaved forest. The forest coverage rate is 66.6%, and the total area of the park is 4156.93 hectares.

On December 29, 2015, Jiangsu Huanghai seaside Forest Park was approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Bureau.

Geology and geomorphology

The geological structure of Dongtai City, where the Yellow Sea National Forest Park is located, belongs to the Yangtze paraplatform. The stratigraphic system is a platform stratum mainly composed of marine carbonate and clastic rocks, which was formed from the late seismolithic to the middle and lower Triassic. The landform belongs to the marine accumulation plain of Northern Jiangsu, and the terrain in the forest park is flat.

Hydrological characteristics

There are Liangduo River, nangan River, xindonggan River, Longgan River and other county-level rivers on the surface of Huanghai National Forest Park in Jiangsu Province. The main tree species are Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Ginkgo biloba, poplar, Ligustrum lucidum, willow, Melia azedarach, Koelreuteria, Robinia pseudoacacia, the main shrub species are Tamarix, Amorpha fruticosa, Salix, Lycium barbarum, rose, crape myrtle, osmanthus, etc.; the main ground cover plants are Suaeda salsa, Spartina alterniflora, Setaria, pteridophytes, etc. There are 7 kinds of national protected plants in the park, including 2 kinds of national first-class protected plants, such as Ginkgo biloba and Metasequoia glyptostroboides. Ginkgo biloba and Metasequoia glyptostroboides are the main afforestation species; 5 kinds of national second-class protected plants, such as Eucommia ulmoides, beech, Liriodendron, Cinnamomum camphora and lotus.

Animal resources

The Yellow Sea National Forest Park in Jiangsu Province is located at the junction of North China and central China in the Palaearctic world. There are 34 species of marine fish, 30 species of inland aquatic animals and 18 species of freshwater fish. There are 414 kinds of terrestrial wildlife resources.
