SANGDAO village belongs to Xufu Town, Longkou City, Yantai City, Shandong Province. It is the only island village in Longkou City and a pearl inlaid in Bohai Bay. It is located 12 kilometers northwest of the town government, surrounded by the sea. Penglai and Changshan Islands face each other in the East, Longkou port in the west, Bohai Bay in the north and Luan Fisheries Company in the south, 3.2 kilometers away. The island covers an area of 2 square kilometers, with an altitude of 9.2 meters. There is Xiaoyi Island 0.5 km away from the northwest end, with an area of 0.0375 square kilometers and an altitude of 5.8 meters.

Origin of village name

There are many theories about the origin of the name of SANGDAO Village: on the one hand, it is named SANGDAO because of the mountains and vicissitudes in the island; on the other hand, it is named because the shape of the island is like mulberry leaves; on the other hand, it is said that the word "sang" means "the sea turns into a mulberry field".

SANGDAO is 3 nautical miles north of Longkou City, covering an area of 2.5 square kilometers. It is adjacent to Penglai and Changdao in the East. It was formed by volcanic eruption. The northern end of the island still retains the typical volcanic landform, belonging to the national geological and geomorphological protection unit.

SANGDAO sea cucumber is famous far and near. In 2008, it was awarded as pollution-free product by the Ministry of agriculture, and SANGDAO village was awarded as pollution-free agricultural product breeding base by the Department of agriculture of Shandong Province. In 2012, "SANGDAO sea cucumber" was recognized as agricultural product geographical indication certification by the Ministry of agriculture.

Economic overview

The main economic sources of SANGDAO villagers are marine fishing and sea cucumber breeding. There are 490 motorized fishing boats, 1700 Mu sea cucumber breeding ponds and 8000 mu sea cucumber breeding area in the village. The annual output of sea cucumber is more than 200000 Jin, and there are 1500 mu scallop, oyster and rainbow breeding. There are many kinds of seafood and abundant resources.

The birth rate was 19.15%, and the natural growth rate was 4.37%. The village has the most surnames of Wang, 130, 112 for LV, 108 for Li, 102 for Luan, 41 for Hu and 19 for Wu. The surnames are tan, fan, Ma, Yang, Lu, sun, Zou, Ding and Zhao. There are six families of overseas Chinese in the village, among which Mr. Wang rujun, a patriotic overseas Chinese living in Japan, has made great contributions to his hometown.

To the east of Sang Island, along the winding plank road, you can enjoy the unique volcanic landform of Dongshan scenic spot. The black crystalline rock is within reach. There is a museum of SANGDAO on the island, displaying the fishing tools of SANGDAO fishermen in different times and the strange stones and foreign bodies salvaged from the seabed. There are large Robinia forests and natural baths on the island. In recent years, the village's "two committees" have built a leisure mulberry island by relying on its geographical advantages.

SANGDAO has convenient sea and land transportation. There is a large ferry, which goes back and forth several times a day. The air is fresh, the scenery is attractive, and the reefs compete for risks. The bottom of Jinsha in the south of the island is a natural bathing beach, and also a good place for small ships to stop and take shelter from the wind. The grotesque rocks in the northern part of the island are cut and chipped, forming eight natural landscapes: Fangwu stone, Meiren stone, Laowu stone, toad stone, Huangshi River, Diaoyutai, Lanma River, Shuangjiang River, standing in the water, which make people marvel at the masterpieces of nature. At high tide, the roaring waves rush to the sky, the waves hit the shore, and the broken jade beads are splashed. There are 12 fishermen's clubs in Sang island. Villagers use their old houses to provide accommodation for tourists. In order to standardize the market of yujiale, improve the service quality of yujiale, and standardize the industry, the village "two committees" also regularly inspect the health and service of yujiale operators, strengthen the industry supervision, regularly train the employees of yujiale, improve the service quality, and ensure the long-term and stable development of yujiale industry.
