After the war, the Qing government compensated the French Concession authorities as a consulate. The French consulate has a consul general, who is the chief executive of the French concession. After liberation, the French Consulate in Tianjin was cancelled, ending its 90 year history in Tianjin.
The building is adjacent to Zhangzizhong road in the East, Jiefang North Road in the west, Chengde road in the South and Chifeng Road in the north. It was built in 1923 and designed by French engineers of Belgium Yipin company. The building area is 2581.55 square meters. It is a two-story flat top mixed structure with basement. The building plane is symmetrical. The facade adopts the variant western classical wall column style, and the wall and cornice are decorated with fine flowers. The entrance of the stone steps, the flower pools on both sides, and the beautiful mountain flowers on the iron gate are a typical French classical style building. The building is in good condition.
