Yungang Grottoes museum is designed by architect Cheng Dapeng. It is located on the west side of Yungang Grottoes scenic area in Datong City, within the scope of style protection area. It is one of the sub projects of the whole Yungang Grottoes scenic area transformation.
The museum consists of an exhibition hall and a multi-functional Performing Arts Center (restored from the site of the original ancient city). The museum is crisscrossed by arches with a width of 4 meters and a span of 40 meters as a unit. The exhibition hall is a single-layer large-span space, 6 meters underground and 5.8 meters above the ground. The Performing Arts Center in the south is to be restored on the site of the original ancient city.
