Chagannaoer Sumu

Chagannaoer Sumu is a Sumu under the jurisdiction of dahanmaoming'an United banner of Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is located in the southwest of xinhaote town. The people's Government of Sumu is located in Changtu temple, 78 kilometers away from xinhaote town. It is adjacent to hundi Wusu and Deleger Su in the East, Sunid Zuoqi in the west, Bayan deliger Su and Zhenglan zhagustai Su in the south, Bayan Chagan Su and baogedawulasu in the north. With a total area of 3299 square kilometers, it governs 11 Gacha and 280 Haote, with residents. The origin of the name "Chagannur" is a Mongolian translation, which means "White Lake". It is named after the Chagannur Lake in the southwest of Sumu.

The soil is mainly chestnut soil and aeolian sandy soil. The terrain belongs to semi-arid desert steppe. In the East and North are low hills, in the middle is Hetao Plain, in the west is great lakes, and in the southwest is sand dunes. There are 8 big and small rivers. The famous gaogustai river flows through the territory and flows into hurchagannur. The main growing plants are Caragana microphylla, Ligusticum mongolicum, Agropyron cristatum, Leymus chinensis, Ligusticum mongolicum, cryptospermum, Verbena mongolicum, Salix psammophila and Achnatherum splendens. There are a large area of natural shrubs. The medicinal plants include Trollius chinensis, Cymbidium goeringii, Scutellaria baicalensis, plantain, Taraxacum mongolicum, Juncus chinensis and daylily. The mineral resources are rich, mainly including copper, zinc, iron, nickel, fluorite, mirabilite, quartz, etc. Ore minerals include malachite, limonite, fluorite, chalcopyrite, magnetite, fluorite, etc.; wild animals include swan, bustard, goose, grey crane, osprey, grouse, magpie, fish, bobcat, fox, hare, wolf, hedgehog, etc. It belongs to temperate semi-arid continental climate zone.

Chagannaoer Sumu mainly grazes cattle, wuranke sheep, horses and goats. The total number of livestock at the end of 1999. There is the address of Changtu temple in the territory. Changtu temple was built in Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty by lamas headed by Gala monk zaraqin. After the temple was built, the first temple fair was held in Baori taolegai.
