The name of the first "Kazakhstan trade fair" was "China's trade fair with the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries". The exhibition hall was located in Heilongjiang exhibition hall, which was the largest and the best in Heilongjiang Province at that time.

In 2003, Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Sports Center was completed. The scale and grade of the center far exceeded that of Heilongjiang International Expo Center. Many exhibitions were transferred to Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Sports Center.

Since 2003, all kinds of exhibition activities of Heilongjiang International Expo Center have been gradually reduced, and the economic income has been greatly reduced.

In 2004, the Harbin municipal authorities decided to transform the Heilongjiang International Expo Center into a multi-functional shopping center integrating leisure, shopping, entertainment and exhibition. At the same time, it will display import and export products for a long time, striving to make the red sun exhibition hall continue to play its economic and cultural advantages. In addition, the main building of the Expo Center has been comprehensively renovated. The facade has been decorated with modern glass curtain walls. All the floors in the building have been opened up and changed into steel frame structure, and a Sunshine Hall has been built.

At present, the provincial Expo Center is an important shopping plaza in Nangang District, and the National Exhibition · Zhengda shopping center has concentrated such international first-class infrastructure as "Carrefour direct store", "jinhans International Exhibition store", "Pizza Hut International Exhibition store", "popcorn KTV", etc., becoming a must for Harbin citizens' entertainment and leisure.

Heilongjiang International Expo Center was founded in 1968, with a total construction area of 52000 square meters and an exhibition area of 15000 square meters. It can assemble nearly 900 international standard booths at the same time and is named "red sun exhibition hall". In the 1980s, the red sun exhibition hall began to become an important venue for major conferences and exhibitions in Harbin and our province. The first to the fifth "Harbin Fair" was successfully held here, becoming one of the seven large-scale exhibition halls in China at that time. In 1993, the red sun exhibition hall was renamed Heilongjiang International Expo Center.

With a total construction area of 42500 m2 and a practical exhibition area of 15000 m2, the exhibition hall has nearly 100 offices, negotiation rooms and small and medium-sized conference rooms, and can assemble nearly 900 international standard booths at the same time. There is 5000 square meters of space outside the building. More than 100 exhibitions, negotiations and trade fairs with different contents and forms have been held in the International Expo Center by more than 10 countries, such as the United States, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Italy and Canada. Nearly 1000 trading companies negotiate business here, which has become an important window for China to carry out border trade and foreign economic and trade.
