Kaohsiung juncun Cultural Center

In 1949, the local government carried out a series of resettlement plans in order to settle the soldiers and their families who came to Taiwan. This is the source of the villages. The people living in the villages belong to the "mainlanders" of the Taiwan population. On both sides of the Changjiang River, the Chinese mainland is talking in different dialects. The location of Kaohsiung's convenient port makes the village of Zuo Ying a large number of dependents. The residents of the village are from the mainland provinces. So the villages can hear the dialect of the South and the north, and they can also eat the dishes of all kinds of flavors in the north and south. However, due to the development of the city, many villages are facing the fate of being demolished. Since 2010, college students and many artists have begun to protect the villages. They have created a large number of colorful architectural paintings in the villages, which constitute an important part of the culture of the villages. However, the efforts and actions of the people still failed to make the self-help Dependents Village (formerly the largest Dependents Village in Kaohsiung City) free from demolition.

The juncun cultural center was set up in 2008 to preserve the historical significance of juncun culture. Through various efforts and planning, the local cultural team, school and juncun cooperation are connected in the museum. The exhibition is held in different theme directions. In the museum, you can listen to the vivid stories of the old juncun and feel the complete history and culture of the juncun.

In particular, although many of the villages have been demolished, the stories of the villages and their protection are still worthy of attention. At present, Mingde new village and Jianye new village still exist in Kaohsiung City, with few residents, which has been transformed into cultural and creative areas by the government.
