Kaohsiung Municipal Museum of history (Kaohsiung Museum for short) is a museum located in Yancheng District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It was originally the site of the Kaohsiung Municipal government and is positioned as the "City History Museum" of Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung Municipal History Museum was originally the office building of the municipal government. After the municipal government moved to the new building on Siwei Sanlu in 1992, it began to plan the old city as a history museum, which opened on October 25, 1998, creating a new life for this old building.

The function of the old city building is mainly for office use, not for exhibition. Therefore, the exhibition space of the Kaohsiung Municipal History Museum is not spacious. Therefore, the theme of collection and exhibition is mainly to show the development track of the South and the life history of the ancestors. There are four exhibition rooms and one special exhibition room in the museum. The title of the exhibition has been changed for about half a year. At the beginning of the museum, four exhibition topics have been launched, including the dog beating history exhibition, the queen of the flag Palace exhibition, the home life embroidery selection exhibition in the early Republic of China, and the Palace Museum Cultural Relics Exhibition, attracting many people from Hong Kong.

Architecture

The old Shifu building was built in the 27th year of the Republic of China. It adopts the Xingya crown style architecture of Japan, and superimposes the Japanese shrine style roof on the modern architecture to emphasize nationalism. Because it was in the Second World War, its appearance was light green, which is the so-called national defense color, in case of being bombed by enemy planes. The appearance of the whole building adopts high character, highlighting the spirit of Kaohsiung. Under the magnificent appearance, there are also many exquisite carving designs, such as the turret imitating the Japanese shrine, Chinese Dougong, tile and wing shaped column head, as well as complex relief patterns. The traditional Chinese and Japanese architectural components are cleverly integrated here to show the graceful beauty.
