Longtan Reservoir

To the east of Longtan Reservoir lies the mountain. The green pines and cypresses are reflected on the water surface, making the lake green as jade. Adults and children swim and play here all year round, which adds a full sense of dynamism to the tranquil scenery.

Longtan Reservoir

Longtan Reservoir is located at the foot of a high mountain in the south of Daping Town, Puning City, 31 kilometers northeast of Lufeng County. It is named after Longtan Village nearby. The catchment area is 156 square kilometers, with a total storage capacity of 134 million cubic meters. It is a large reservoir with comprehensive utilization mainly for irrigation.

Beautiful scenery, elegant environment, pleasant scenery, is a resort for leisure tourism. When the midsummer comes, the reservoir surface is wide, the water waves are rippling, and the south wind blows, like entering the "Peach Blossom Land"; when autumn comes and early winter comes, the water level in the upper reaches of the reservoir drops, and the grassland at the bottom of the reservoir is flat, like a "small grassland", and sometimes a couple of cattle and sheep, like a natural picture scroll, which makes people forget to return. Longkeng village, where the reservoir is located, is a famous old revolutionary base. The Red Army led by Gu Dacun once stationed here. It has a training ground and a rear hospital. It is a base for revolutionary tradition education.

engineering construction

The construction of Longtan Reservoir started in September 1958, and the main dam was completed in January 1960. Due to the poor construction quality, the main dam sank to 1.69 meters after a heavy rainstorm hit on June 9 of the same year. There were many cracks in the dam body and water leakage in the back slope. At that time, the leakage was treated, and the earth dam was increased by 2 meters. In 1963, the main dam was increased by 2 meters. In 1966, the gate was added to the spillway. In the winter of 1976, the main dam was thickened and increased by 0.5 meters, the dam crest width was expanded from 2 meters to 8 meters, the wave wall was built with a height of 1 meter, the concrete slope protection was built on the upper part of the upstream slope, and a water conveyance tunnel with a diameter of 2.5 meters was built to block the original unsafe low culvert discharge pipe.

Reservoir characteristics

After years of reinforcement and expansion, the project has one main dam and one auxiliary dam, both of which are homogeneous earth dams. The maximum height of the main dam is 48.5m, the length of the dam crest is 250m, and the maximum height of the auxiliary dam is 10m and the length is 40m. One spillway, 48 meters in clear width, 12 holes, 4 × 5.4 meters arched steel plate gate, with the maximum designed discharge of 1695 cubic meters per second. There are one water conveyance tunnel and one culvert respectively, and the designed maximum water conveyance flow is 79.7 cubic meters per second. The installed capacity of the power station is 2300KW.

The total project cost is 24.54 million yuan, including 5.7233 million yuan invested by the state. The designed irrigation area is 180000 mu, and the effective irrigation area is 121100 mu in 1987.
