Benxi Lake National Geopark

Benxi lake, located under the cliff of woyun mountain in the north of Benxi City, is a small lake in the cave. A pool of water, confined in a limestone cave, has a water surface of less than 15 square meters and a flow of nearly 20000 tons every day and night. It is surrounded by mountains and mountains, and the entrance is open to the southeast. The lake in front of the cave is flowing with mountains and lakes, and it is quiet and compact. The shape of the lake is wide outside and narrow inside, very similar to the wine cup made of rhinoceros horn, so it is called "cup rhinoceros Lake". In addition, there are also "Beixi Lake" and "Baixi Lake". In 1734, the name of "Beixi Lake" was too elegant and difficult to write and identify, so it was changed to "Benxi Lake" by homophony. In the eighth year of tongzhi (1780), Gao Shengyao, a scholar of Liaodong, wrote "Benxi Lake in Liaodong" and chiseled it above the cave entrance. Since then, the name of Benxi lake has spread. Although the lake is small, the scenic spots in Liaodong and Guandong are famous all over the world. They were once listed in the ten scenic spots in Guandong. The water of the lake is fresh in winter and fresh in spring. It is suitable for drinking. In May every year, the surface water flows into the bottom of the cave along the rock crevice, and the lake overflows. After winter, the water of the lake becomes less and less, so you can walk two or three miles into the cave by holding a candle. Outside the cave is the Cihang temple built in the Ming Dynasty. Inside the temple are statues and murals. The clear spring in the cave bubbled and poured into the artificial lake built after liberation. The artificial lake covers an area of 2000 square meters. The weeping willows are dancing by the lake, and there are arch bridges and pavilion in the middle of the lake for all kinds of cruise ships. In 1984, the newly built climbing stone steps, pavilions and cultural relics exhibition hall added charm to Benxi lake. There is a limestone cave at the waist of Huali mountain in the south of the park, commonly known as strange stone cave. It is more than 200 meters long. There are many kinds of Bell and milk groups in the cave. Some are like Buddha preaching, and some are like eighteen Arhats gathering together, so it is also called Luohan cave.
