Former Kwantung Army Headquarters

"Xinjing" headquarters: the former site is located at 577 Xinfa Road, Kuancheng District, Changchun City, which is now used by Jilin provincial Party committee. In 1983, the former site of the Japanese Kwantung Army headquarters was announced by the people's Government of Jilin Province as the third batch of provincial cultural relics protection units. The former site of the headquarters of the Japanese Kwantung Army was designed and supervised by the management department of the Kwantung Army. The construction was started in August 1932 and completed in August 1934 with a cost of 1.7 million yuan. The former site covers an area of 76500 square meters, with a construction area of 13424 square meters. The highest point of the building is 31.50 meters away from the ground. There are 221 rooms in the building, and the project cost is 1.7 million yuan. The whole project took two years, and the number of workers reached 300000.

The headquarters of the Japanese Kwantung Army is the highest authority of the Japanese Kwantung Army. It was moved from Shenyang to Changchun on October 30, 1932 and moved to the former site in 1934. On August 9, 1945, the headquarters of the Japanese Kwantung Army moved to the Japanese Nanling underground command post.

After Japan's unconditional surrender in August 1945, the Soviet general headquarters in Northeast China was set up in the former site. From 1946 to October 1948, the new first army and the new seventh army of the Kuomintang were established here. After the liberation of Changchun in October 1948, the former site was used by the Space Nine Aviation School of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. In 1955, the site was used by Jilin provincial Party committee of China.
