Saint Francis Cathedral

St. Francis's Cathedral is located in the chidanu Street on the island of Luhuan. The church is small, and its shape is the Baroque architectural feature of general teaching in Macao. Historical evolution

In 1928, St. Francis's Cathedral was built. It is located in chidannu street, Luhuan. It is one of the newest churches in Macao. The architectural style belongs to Baroque style.

In 1552, Saint Francis followed missionaries to the southeast coast of Japan more than 400 years ago, and then died on a small island near Macao. Luhuan island is an outlying island of Macao, just like the back garden of Macao. There are not many tourists here, so it seems very quiet. In 1978, the original silver bone box in the church was moved in since 1978. It contains Saint Francis's bracelets. Now it has been sent to the convent of Saint Joseph for collection. Saint Francis arrived in the south coast of China with missionaries from Japan more than 400 years ago. He died on a small island near Macao in 1552. In 1835, the bracelets of 59 Japanese and 14 Vietnamese people who were left by the fire in the church were moved to the Catholic Art Museum behind the memorial archway.
