Fengming Island

Fengming Island, belonging to Jiaotong Island street, Wafangdian City, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, has five administrative villages with more than 7400 people and 1063 hectares of cultivated land. The Shang Dynasty cultural site "clam skin land" is a municipal cultural relics protection unit.

brief introduction

Fengming island is located in the Bohai Sea area 44 km southwest of Wafangdian City, 0.7 km from the nearest point of the mainland. It was once called "burning wood island" and "grave gate island". According to folklore, the ancient islanders were often spared by pirates when they heard the Phoenix call the police. Later, the pirates shot and killed the Phoenix. The islanders named the island in memory of the bird.

Geography

Fengming island covers an area of 49 square kilometers. The central part is mountainous, with the highest elevation of 237.5 meters; the East, West and north parts are low-lying, with the lowest elevation below 10 meters. It is composed of granite. The surface soil is fertile, the forest is luxuriant, there are many shrubs and Robinia pseudoacacia, the coverage rate is 40%. It has a warm temperate marine monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 9.3 ℃ and an annual precipitation of 650mm. There are 5 administrative villages, 42 natural villages and 7361 people. Mainly agriculture, with 15953 mu of arable land, planting corn, goubao, horseradish, etc.

It is the political, cultural and educational center of the exchange island. There are county-level highways and lighthouses in Taishan in the south.
