Shigu Temple

Shigu temple is a scenic spot of Tianya mountain. It is located 8 kilometers east of Yuanping City, Southeast of tingzhitou village, near Yuanhong highway. It was first built in Yuan Dynasty, and then repaired many times in Qianlong and Tongzhi years of Qing Dynasty. It is said that in Yuan Dynasty, his mother's family was Zhang Xianfu of Jiexiu, who was happy to give alms to the poor. That is to say, she YaoYuan was built in front of Tianya mountain and worshipped Mianshan Jieshen (jiezitui). Later, it was changed to shigu temple Jieshen Xinggong changed the name of Sheyao hospital to shigu hall.

Overview of temples

Shigu temple was built in 1317, and rebuilt in 1462. During the reign of Kangxi, Daoguang and Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty, it was repaired many times.

There are stone drum temple, East and West accessory hall, Guodian hall, bell and Drum Tower, flagpole, stone lion, stage, wooden plate building, etc. Inside the hall, there are pictures of Jie Zitui's mother and son and murals of Jie Zitui's life.

The ancestral hall is a brick and wood structure, well preserved, and has been rebuilt steles in past dynasties. It is one of the key cultural relics protection units in the county.

Folklore

It is said that in memory of Jie Zitui, it was expanded from Sheyao hospital. This jujube tree grows between the bell and drum towers of Shigu temple, surrounded by high stone platforms, and has not been well located. But this jujube tree is about 10 meters high, and it can't be hugged by an adult. Its bark is rough and white, and its branches are vigorous and branched. In autumn, the oval leaves are lush, dark red jujube like a pocket lantern hanging all over the branches, green leaves and red fruit, it is beautiful.

County records

According to the county annals: in the Yuan Dynasty, there was the Yan family, wife of Zhang Xianzhi. Yan was good at giving alms to the poor. He built a medicine house beside the main road at the foot of Lianhua Mountain and offered it to the gods of jiezitui in Mianshan. One night, I heard people's voice and horse hissing. I heard it through the window and answered, "Jieshen garrison." The next day, the horse's hoof mark was found on the stone in the courtyard. Later, the sheyaoyuan was changed into jieshenxinggong, the predecessor of Shigu temple. The inscription on the existing tablet of Shigu hall is "the fourth year of Yanyou reign of the state of Da Yuan". It is certain that the shrine was founded in the Yuan Dynasty at the latest.

The stone drum rumbles when there is wind, so it is called the stone drum temple.
