During the September 18th Incident in 1931, Japanese imperialism occupied the three eastern provinces and established the puppet Manchukuo. Xiao Jun went to Harbin in 1932, met Xiao Hong, Shu Qun, Luo Feng and other progressive literary youths, and fell in love with Xiao Hong. They published a collection of novels and essays "Trek" at their own expense. In 1934, when Shu Qun arrived in Qingdao, he wrote to them and invited them to come to Qingdao instead of being slaves in Manchukuo.
