Changshou Temple

The earliest longevity temple was built in Yuan Dynasty. Now the Changshou temple is called Lingbao Changshou temple. It was built on the new site around 2001. A row of simple two-story buildings, the main door of the building to the west, the east of the yellow wall, written on the South no Guanyin Bodhisattva characters.

Introduction to Changshou Temple

There is a standing statue of the Buddha on the main hall. On the left and right walls are newly carved relief sculptures of 24 gods, which are lifelike, about 5 meters high and about 15 meters long. Standing statue station east to west, North and South are monks squatter. Although Lingbao Changshou temple is small in scale, it is full of incense. On the first and fifteenth day of the lunar new year, there is an endless stream of pilgrims and cigarettes.

Shaxi Town has a long history, also known as Shatou. In the Yuan Dynasty, hEPO (Hengli River) was set up, and the market became a town at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China, the commercial market was prosperous and became a huge town of Taicang. It is known as the 18 townships in the southeast and the first township in Shaxi. Up to now, there are still some ancient buildings along the river and three li long old streets in Shaxi Town, which is called Shaxi ancient town by outsiders. The ancient houses of Ming and Qing Dynasties are still inhabited by people, with smoke curling, green brick and stone bridges and Jiahe river. The scenery is beautiful and the ancient town deserves its reputation. Lingbao Changshou temple is located at the westernmost end of Shaxi ancient street, behind Beiyuan new village of Changjing road.

Activities of Changshou Temple

On the 28th day of the lunar calendar every month, believers in the temple take part in the activities of chanting sutras and praying for blessings. "October 1" national day seven days to do "land and water law society", there are eminent monks speak. According to the master in the temple, there are more than 30 monks in the temple, most of whom are preparing for the construction of the temple. On the day of the meeting, nearly 300 monks will come to attend the meeting.

Traffic of Changshou Temple

From Taicang City, drive 13 km north by west along Huyi highway (204 National Road) to Zhitang. Turn east from Zhitang to Shanan highway, and drive another six kilometers to Shaxi Town.

From Baiyun South Road to the east of Shaxi Town bus stop, walk northward for 15 minutes to the bottom of Baiyun North Road, turn left into Xiangtu Road, and then walk for another five minutes to Changshou temple.
