His works xiao'an new law, Li Shuo and Wu Xing Xing Du Jie made great contributions to the development of astronomy and mathematics in modern China.

Wang Xichan memorial hall is located in Zhenze Town, Wujiang City, Jiangsu Province. Wang Xianci temple was built in memory of Wang Xichan, an astronomer in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. Lin Zexu, governor of Suzhou, once raised money to build a cemetery for Wang Xichan. In front of the tomb, there was a stone tablet inscribed with "the tomb of Mr. Wang Xiaoan, a Gaoshi". In the east of the tomb, there was a "Wang Xianci" and a memorial hall for Wang Xiaoan. In 1982, Wang Xiaoan tomb was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.

Wang Xichan was fond of learning when he was young. After the age of 11, he had been a scholar for 20 years His poems are full of vigor and vitality, and he is especially proficient in the study of images. He has been diligent in his studies for decades, and is famous for his diligence in observation. When the sky is clear, he often goes to the house and looks up at the stars, but he can't sleep at night.

Wang Xichan had formed the idea of being loyal to the Ming Dynasty when he was young. After the establishment of the Qing government, Wang Xichan gave up the imperial examination and refused to be an official of the Qing Dynasty. In his contacts with the adherents of the Ming Dynasty, such as Gu Yanwu, pan tamzhang, pan Lei, Lu liuliang and Zhang Lvxiang, as well as his words and deeds of wearing ancient clothes and using ancient words, he showed his personality of "sex, not in harmony with the customs" and his attitude of keeping chastity for the Ming Dynasty. Although Wang Xichan was poor all his life, he devoted himself to learning and made remarkable achievements. Gu Yanwu, a famous thinker and scholar, said that "it's really hard to study nature and human beings. I'm not as good as Wang Yinxu." he spoke highly of Wang Xichan.
