Bori Bridge
Bori bridge can be called a miracle in the history of bridge, known as "the first bridge in Kangba". Located in Le'an Township, Xinlong County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, bori bridge is majestic and spectacular across the Yalong River.
summary
Bori bridge was built in the Qing Dynasty. It was designed by Tang tongjibu, an outstanding Tibetan architect. He directed the workers to spend several months sleeping on the deep ravines and the turbulent Yalong River. Viewed from the side, bori bridge has rough circular piers, neat and beautiful abutments, and a bridge body perfectly matched with wooden tenons. This uncanny "flying bridge" truly reflects the mysterious snow culture.
In 2006, the bridge was listed as the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
structure
Bori bridge is 125 meters long, 3 meters wide and 60 meters in diameter span. It is composed of bridge body, pier and pavilion. From a distance, the piers are shaped like two solid blockhouses, all of which are made of round fir, pebbles and rubble. In the middle of the two piers, 4-6 logs are used to support the arch. The log length increases gradually from bottom to top to form two cantilever arms. Then, the cantilever is used to erect beams, pave Bridge Slabs, and install railings to form the bridge body. The bridge pavilion is an umbrella shaped structure with stone flakes on the pier. The most amazing thing is that the whole bridge does not use a nail or a piece of iron, and each joint is connected with a wooden wedge, which is original and practical.
historical origin
In 1930, the army of the gaxia government of Tibet entered Xinlong from Ganzi. For strategic needs, six Tibetan style cantilever bridges near the urban area were burned down. Xinlong, which was originally located in the navel of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, is even more isolated from the world. Bori bridge, which survived the storm, became an important road for people to get in and out of Xinlong at that time. Due to overload, the dilapidated bridge is crumbling. In 1933, a Tibetan folk architect named Mott Yama in jialaxi township of Xinlong was appointed to repair the bridge. After several months of hard work, Yama led the Tibetan people to renovate the bridge on the basis of preserving its original appearance. In June 1936, after the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army and the Sixth Army of the red army joined forces in Xinlong, they moved northward through the bridge. Since then, the local people affectionately called the bridge "Red Army Bridge".
