Wu shenzhao

Wushenzhao is located in Sumu, Wushenzhao banner, YIKEZHAO League, which means the Buddhist temple of Wushenqi, also known as "Ganzhuer Scripture Temple".

Wushenzhao was the largest temple in the front banner of Ordos right wing in Qing Dynasty. It governs all the temples in the whole banner. According to a brief history of Wushenzhao, a Lama named nangsuo came from Tibet and built a small temple here in 1713. At the beginning of Qianlong period, the fifth zhasakelasheleng of our banner expanded the temple, built a main hall, and invited a Lama from Tibet as the leader. In the 29th year of Qianlong period (1764), the sixth zhasakeldushabu of our banner invited * VII to send the Lama of karkha tribe in Lhasa, rosandoerji, to be the first generation of living Buddha of our temple. When the living Buddha passed through the Ta'er temple in Qinghai Province, he brought back two sandalwood carved statues of Sakyamuni for the main hall, so it was called "Zhao" temple. Later, the temple sent people to Hongren temple in Beijing to get 108 volumes of Ganzhuer Scripture, which was also called "Ganzhuer Scripture Temple". At that time, there was a zacang (Academic Department) in the temple, namely, the Ministry of Manifesto, the Ministry of Shilun and the Ministry of doctrines. There are 24 halls, 21 living Buddha warehouses, 3 main towers and 108 attached towers. In addition, there are hundreds of monasteries around the temple, forming a Han Tibetan style architectural complex, with more than 1000 lamas at the peak of incense. By 1949, there were still five or six hundred lamas in the temple. The living Buddha of Wushenzhao has been passed on for five generations. Born in 1932, the fifth generation living Buddha, labtan Dorje, presided over the ceremony.

Wushenzhao was destroyed in the "Cultural Revolution", leaving only two temples and a white tower. In 1985, the government paid for the restoration of a sutra hall.
