Minyuan nunnery
Minyuan nunnery is the representative of residential temple architecture in South Anhui of Jiuhua Mountain. Its architectural features can be summarized in four sentences, namely "Brown tile and white wall, horse head wall, courtyard and cloister". Floor slab, partition board, main hall for Buddha to live in the two rooms. " Each nunnery is generally composed of two teachers and disciples. They chant Buddhist scriptures in the morning and evening, and sometimes plant vegetables and pick tea to protect the Buddha and lead a stable life.
There are more than 20 nunneries in Minyuan, which are concentrated with distinctive architectural features. The small nunnery has only one or two entrances. It has a single door, a single courtyard and a temple. The middle nunnery is a Buddhist hall with two rooms. The medium-sized buildings are generally two hall buildings, with patio in the middle, with falling water inside, and some with increasing depth and height, with the same style. These nunneries are all white walls and brown tiles, small windows, horse head walls, Buddhist halls and living rooms, so life is very convenient. Nunneries generally have courtyards with greenhouses or vegetable beds, surrounded by shade and quiet environment.
