Xiliang mountain is located 36 kilometers south of Hexian County, with an altitude of 88.1 meters. It faces the big river and confronts the Jiajiang river of Dongliang mountain in Wuhu City. It is like a gateway set up by heaven, so it is collectively known as "Tianmen Mountain". Looking far from the river, the East and West Liangshan mountains are as beautiful as cuidai, charming and quiet as Emei, so they are also called "Mount Emei". The East and West Mountains are facing each other with two peaks, and the potential is like a tiger. In the seventh year of the Ming Dynasty (463), Liu Jun, Emperor Xiaowu of the Song Dynasty, drove here to inspect the water army exercises in the river. He ordered Bowang and Liangshan to set up double towers, so East and West Liangshan got their name. Li Bai, a great poet, once left his famous poem wangtianmen mountain: "Tianmen is interrupted, Chu River is opened, and blue water flows eastward here. The green hills on both sides of the Strait are opposite each other, and the lonely sails are coming to the sun. "

Composition of scenic spots

Xiliang mountain is composed of Datuo mountain and xiaotuo mountain. The mountains and rivers are connected and the scenery is beautiful. On the cliff near the river, there are many strange stones. Poets such as Li Bai, Li Chi, Wang Anshi, he Zhu, Guo Xiangzheng, Yang Wanli, Wang Guangyang, Xie Jin, Du Hao and Wang Shizheng have visited here to write poems. The mountain is also known as the "eight sceneries of Tianmen": the moon in Tianmen lake is shining like the "Tianmen moon" in the water of changuang stele; in the morning mist of shower, fish are floating; in the morning light, the color of golden silkworm is reflected; in Jitou, the tide is loud, but the echo is echoing; in Wanan Guanlan, the grotesque stone Buddha is hanging over the river; in Bixia palace, the snow is clear and the clothes are red "Dragon Palace fumigating snow" in plain package to see the river scenery; cloud Pavilion flying to the cliff, two or three "cloud Pavilion sparse bells" can be heard from far and near; dusk autumn rain rippling and misty, white waves rolling "Dizhou curtain rain"; willow Bank spring warbler singing on the pleasant yellow warbler branches at the foot of Xiliang mountain.

On the cliffs of Datuo mountain, in the third year of Yonghe (347) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Wang Xizhi, a calligrapher, carved on the cliffs four characters of "invigorating one's clothes and washing one's feet", and the signature of "Xizhi" is still clearly recognizable. During the reign of Tianqi in the Ming Dynasty, the inscription "Tianmen" was carved on the cliff of Xianjing in Hezhou. The seven stone carvings of "flood here" written in the 36th year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty (1608) and Daoguang in Qing Dynasty have become precious historical materials for hydrological research. There are nuwu Pavilion, Longwang palace and Yuhuang Pavilion in the front of the mountain, Puguang nunnery, Shian temple and water filling Pavilion in the back of the mountain, Bixia Palace at the end of the mountain and other buildings, which have been destroyed by the war for many times.

Historical legend

Li Bai, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, wrote in the inscription on Tianmen Mountain: "Liangshan is broad-minded, and guanjian is located in Chubin. In fact, it is Wu Jin. The two mountains are scattered like scales of a whale. Only if the sea, only if the river god. Niuzhu monster, eyes around the wheel. The light shines on the island and the air shines on the stars. Rolling sand and waves, drowning horses and killing people. Cathay Pacific is proud of its achievements, but its mistakes are rare. Open Jiujiang Na tin, close the five mountains flying dust. In a place of natural danger, bandits have no relatives. " Because of its precipitous terrain, it has been a must for military strategists in the past dynasties. The "battle between Wu and Chu" in the spring and Autumn period took place here. Jinling, the capital of the Six Dynasties, was garrisoned in Xiliang mountain, known as Liangshan garrison. During the period of Wude in Tang Dynasty, Fu Gong Yi, the Deputy General of Du Fu Wei, was connected with Suo Duan River Road from Liangshan to Bowang by iron rope, and built the moon city, which was more than ten miles long. In 1853, the Taiping army occupied Xiliang mountain. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the guerrilla department was set up here, stationed in Liangshan camp, and built fort for defense.

Modern history

In April 1949, the 270th regiment of the 90th division of the 33rd army of the third field army fought fiercely with the 38th regiment of the 12th division of the 66th army of the Kuomintang for three days and nights. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the county people's government transformed xiaotuo mountain into a martyr's cemetery. A "martyr tower" was built on the top of the mountain, and Shi Renxiang, an anti LinBiao soldier, was also buried here. In 1952, the county people's government established the "monument to the people's Heroes" at the top of Tuoshan mountain. During the Qingming Festival, schools and government organizations around the country organize students and young workers to sweep tombs. For patriotic education, two pavilions will be built at dajitou and datuoshanwei on the cliffs near the river for tourists to have a rest. The site of puguang'an was rebuilt into a "exhibition hall of Xiliang mountain fighting deeds". In 2002, the "Xiliang mountain battle story exhibition hall" was changed to Puguang temple.

Xiliangshan Martyrs Memorial: xiliangshan in Tianmen Mountain is the place where "the first shot of the cross river campaign" took place. In April 1949, the battle of crossing the Yangtze River of the Chinese people's Liberation Army began here. The 90th division of the third field army was ordered to attack Xiliang mountain and fought fiercely with a regiment of the Kuomintang here for three days and three nights. Both sides suffered heavy losses. A group of commanders and fighters, such as the head of the 270 regiment and the commander of the first battalion of 269 regiment, paid their young lives. To commemorate the martyrs who died, in November 1952, the "monument to the people's Heroes", "memorial Pavilion for martyrs" and "memorial tower for martyrs" were built here, collectively known as the martyrs memorial hall
