Dongjiakou Great Wall, a gateway on the Ming Great Wall, is located in the north of Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, 70 kilometers away from Funing district. It is one of the important fortresses of Jizhen Great Wall built by Qi Jiguang, a famous military general in the Ming Dynasty. It protects Shanhaiguan, the North Wing fortress of Guancheng.

The total length of Dongjiakou Great Wall is 8.9 km. The existing wall is more than 3000 meters, the damaged one is more than 1800 meters, and the rest are steep mountains without walls.

Dongjiakou great wall stands on the steep mountains in the northeast of zhuaoying Town, Haigang District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, 38 kilometers away from the urban area of Qinhuangdao. Human history

According to historical records, Dongjiakou Great Wall was rebuilt on the basis of the original Great Wall of the Northern Qi Dynasty. It was built in the 14th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1381 A.D.), and was first-class side wall at the beginning. Qi Jiguang rebuilt it in the 5th year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty (1571 A.D.). Dongjiakou Great Wall has various forms of architecture and extraordinary momentum. Especially on the stone gate strips at the entrance of the three enemy platforms, Li Jialou, Chen Jialou and Geng Jialou, there are lotus Ruyi cloud, double lion Hydrangea ball, panzhilian, iron flower and other patterns carved respectively. Each pattern is lifelike, and the carving is very exquisite.

Hao Sanjin, a member of the Great Wall Society of China and a researcher of the Cultural Bureau of Qinhuangdao City, said that the Dongjiakou Great Wall has maintained its original historical style to a degree unmatched by other sections of the Great Wall in China, and the sculpture on several stone coupons of enemy's platform is the only one in China. The origin of the sculpture is the concrete embodiment of Minnan culture brought by general Qi Jiguang who built the Great Wall in northern China.

According to the investigation and research, the main reason why Dongjiakou Great Wall fortress is well preserved is that after the construction of this section of the Great Wall, Qi Jiguang transferred 3000 "Musketeers" from Jinhua house in Zhejiang Province. In order to stabilize the morale of the army, the soldiers brought their families here to protect the city. Dongjiakou is a typical village where the descendants of Ming Dynasty city guards live. As the descendants of Ming Dynasty city guards, Dongjiakou people always cherish the Great Wall built by their ancestors as a "family heirloom". These "descendants of the Great Wall" still have six surnames, Chen, Li, Geng, sun, Zhao and Zhang, with a total of 439 people from 123 families. In addition, the high mountains, dangerous roads, brambles, wild animals and few people in this area are also the reasons why the Dongjiakou Great Wall is well preserved.

Dongjiakou Great Wall fortress, which has been sleeping for more than 600 years, welcomes tourists. The road from Qinhuangdao city to Dongjiakou Great Wall is more than 40 kilometers long. You can get to the foot of the great wall directly by car. There are mountain paths leading to the fortresses of the Great Wall. Tourists can climb the highest enemy tower and beacon tower in more than an hour, and have a look at the magnificent scenery of the great wall around Dongjiakou, as well as the mountains and valleys inside and outside the Great Wall.
