Faming Temple

It is located at the foot of Zhaobi mountain in Banfanggou, Urumqi county, 48 kilometers away from the urban area of Urumqi. The temple is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and the flat ground in the middle is the lower part of bajiahu village. It has a total area of 27 mu (18000 square meters).

Introduction to the temple

Because the temple was initiated by some Han people with strong belief in Buddhism and approved by the government to be built, Zhao Puchu, then president of China Buddhist Association, inscribed "faming Temple" for the temple, taking the meaning of "the lamp is always bright", so it was named faming temple.

The temple is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with fresh air and beautiful scenery. Overlooking the faming temple, it is under the blue sky and white clouds, with high mountains as a barrier, and the surrounding farmhouses are adjacent to each other. With the warm winter and cool summer atmosphere, it is a rare geomantic treasure land.

Faming temple was built in 1985 and was basically completed in 1988. The building covers an area of 11000 square meters, of which the Guanyin hall is divided into two floors above and below the ground, covering an area of 144 square meters, and the dizang hall is divided into two floors above and below the ground, covering an area of 144 square meters; the wuguantang (canteen), Daliao (kitchen) and the warehouse each cover an area of 300 square meters, and the two wing rooms cover an area of about 1000 square meters. The temple is well-equipped with water and electricity. It is warm in winter and cool in summer. It has a pleasant climate, especially when it faces Liangzi mountain in Pingxi, a tourist resort. It's like being in the fairyland of nature. The number of Buddhists gathered and increased at every major Dharma meeting, reaching more than 5000 at the peak.

In June 2013, master Yixuan was invited to be the abbot of faming temple at the ceremony of Urumqi minzong Committee and Urumqi Buddhist Association. Presided over the educational administration and reconstruction project of faming temple.

There are Shanmen hall, Maitreya Hall (Tianwang Hall) and Daxiong hall along the central axis of faming temple. On the right side of the temple are nianfo hall, yunshuiliao (dormitory), Wuguan hall, Wuguan hall, etc

Temple characteristics

Faming temple is a pure monastic monastery, which does not charge admission fees, and it is free to offer incense.

Take a bus at the southern suburb passenger station near Santun monument in Urumqi, buy a ticket to Banfanggou Town, get off at the platform of faming temple, see the sign of faming temple, walk along the downhill road for 50 meters, turn left and go straight for 100 meters to reach the temple.
