People's Culture Club

Dalian people's culture club is located in Zhongshan Square in the center of the city. It was designed by a Russian expert group. The main designer is nayev from Belarus. Its exterior design style is simple and symmetrical design which just emerged after World War II. Its interior adopts large-span dome and European carved stage arched platform. It is the most advanced theater architectural design in China at that time .

After its completion in May 1951, Guo Moruo, a literary giant, inscribed the title himself, and has always been the political and cultural center of Dalian.

In 1995, a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out. The architectural appearance of the building is modeled on the shape of the mountain flower sculpture and the snooker force column, which are popular in the theater design of the 19th century in Europe. According to the needs of sound design, the interior of the building is added with the Doric force column and some decorative carvings to make it closer to the architectural style of Europe. Among the buildings in Zhongshan Square, this is a building built entirely by Chinese people. After transformation, the building shows its grandeur, elegance, artistic expressiveness and modernity.

In 2008, the Dalian municipal Party committee and government invested in the comprehensive transformation of the Dalian people's Cultural Club, which is one of the 19 practical things that the municipal government did for the people in 2008. After the transformation, the club has complete functions, perfect equipment, excellent audio-visual conditions, advanced and feasible technology, and can meet the needs of various forms of artistic performance. It is a national medium-sized professional theater and the only class a standard theater in our city.

Dalian people's culture club has become an important window to display excellent art at home and abroad, and has been affirmed and supported by all sectors of society.

Since its opening in May 1951, the people's cultural club has successfully received performances from several foreign excellent art groups and hundreds of domestic famous performance groups from the United States, Britain, France, Italy, Japan, Germany, the former Soviet Union, Russia, etc.; Premier Zhou led a delegation of the Central People's Government to hold state banquets and condolence performances here in 1953; Song Qingling, Peng Dehuai, Xu Qianqian and other party and state organizations Leaders have also accompanied foreign dignitaries to watch performances here many times. In the glorious years of more than 50 years, it has created a high-grade cultural image of the cultural club, making the cultural club a famous elegant art palace at home and abroad.

Since 1991, Dalian people's culture club has been hosting the annual Dalian international clothing festival. This large-scale art festival at home and abroad has set up a bridge for international art exchange, greatly broadened the horizons of citizens, and left a historic mark for Dalian to move towards a modern metropolis. Since 2006, Dalian people's cultural club has held a series of activities to create cultural Dalian with "weekly performances", with more than 100 performances per year.

After the renovation in 2008, it is planned to determine different themes, contents and forms of performance seasons in different months and seasons every year. At the same time, the small theater on the second floor will improve and enrich each year's performance in the form of chamber music, folk music, small drama and drama. Gradually realize the goal of "performing every week" to "performing every day", and build the people's cultural club into a core stage to adapt to the needs of urban development, meet the cultural needs of citizens, and display the city's cultural image.
