Namunani peak, at an altitude of 7694 meters, is located in the western part of the Himalayas, far away from Gangrenboqi peak, the holy mountain at an altitude of 6638 meters. Namunani covers an area of about 200 square kilometers, with six main ridges. On the ridge line, there are dozens of peaks more than 6000 meters high and low.

Namunani peak is known by Tibetans as "the mountain of Notre Dame" or "Goddess Peak". The ridge in the west is fan-shaped and arranged from north to south. The only ridge in the East is eroded into a blade ridge, which is very steep and forms a cliff with an elevation difference of nearly 2000 meters. In contrast, the west slope is more gentle, with five huge glaciers pouring down between the canyons, and the ice surface is covered with ice cracks and ice cliffs.

The climbing time of namunani peak is generally from May to late June. During this period, there are many fine weather, and it may last for 6-8 days. The rainy season starts from the beginning of July, with the most precipitation in July and August.

Climbing history

As early as a century ago, this area was noticed by explorers from all over the world. Since the first attempt of Mount namunani by British Tom, George and lance in 1905, climbers from Japan, Austria and many other countries have made many attempts, but none of them succeeded. On May 26 and 28, 1985, 13 members of the Sino Japanese joint mountaineering team, such as jinjixi and Songlin gongzang, made the first successful ascent along the Zhalong malomba glacier on the northwest slope of namunani mountain.

Mountaineering route

There are two routes to the mountain: one is from Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to the south, along the Xinzang highway,

It is 3044 km from Shiquan River in Yecheng to Pulan. The other one runs westward from Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to Pulan via Shigatse and saga, with a total distance of l433 km.

According to legend, the Himalayas and the gangdises are two famous families. Namunani is a beautiful and outstanding woman in the Himalayas. One evening, namunani was driving the sheep home on the grassland. She heard a melodious song coming from the distance. She gradually recognized that it was a love song for her. Unconsciously, she walked towards the direction of the song. She came to see that he was Gangrenboqi (holy mountain).

So she and he had a wonderful and sweet night. The next year, Gangrenboqi proposed to the Himalayan family with a special ceremony, and married namunani as his wife.

After a while, the annual horse racing festival began. Among them are 100 riders from the Gangdise mountains, Himalayas, Kunlun Mountains and Tanggula mountains. Goran Rinpoche won the laurel with superb riding skills, and the audience cheered his name. Just when he received the flowers from the girls, he was suddenly fascinated by the beautiful eyes of a girl. From then on, he could never forget those eyes! He was thinking about her all the time. One evening, when Gung Jen Boqi was sitting by the lake and was sad because of missing, this woman appeared. It turned out that this beautiful and enchanting woman was named marpang Yong. She was the daughter of King Tethys Hailong. She was very sad because of missing In order to get tired of the life in the sea and like the burly and handsome Oka Rinpoche, they showed all their charm to him. Later, they often had a tryst by the lake. Namunani is always considerate and loyal to her husband. At first, she doesn't care about her husband's going out every night. However, during this time, she finds that gangren Boqi is depressed and looks ugly.

Until one night, she went to look for a lost sheep and came to the lake. She found that Kang renboqi was hugging a strange woman. At the beginning, she didn't believe the facts in front of her. She felt like a knife in her heart. Namunani moved him with his heart, but gangren Boqi couldn't control himself. Namunani couldn't recover her husband's heart, but her love for him didn't decrease at all. Namunani had this belief in extreme pain: to run away, to return to his mother's home, to return to the Himalayan family. However, it is necessary to pass through bagar prairie at night. If we have not come out of the prairie at dawn, the dawn God will use the acupoint tapping method to take away her soul and turn her into a mountain. As she turned back step by step on the bagar prairie, her tears welled up and she was reluctant to give up, the sky began to brighten. Namunani only felt her limbs stiff and unable to move. Her chest began to be surrounded by ice and snow. Her whole body turned into stone and solidified. She became a snow covered peak and stood alone between heaven and earth. People named this mountain namunani in memory of her.

Gangrenboqi found that his wife was not at his side in the early morning. When he was looking for namunani, he was transformed into a mountain. Facing each other from afar across the bagar prairie from namunani mountain, it seems to be calling his wife and telling his regret. And he did not escape his doom, and became a lake, which is called mappenyongcuo. She is between namunani peak and the great snowy mountain of Gangrenboqi. She wants to attract the eyes of Gangrenboqi peak, but when she wakes up, Gangrenboqi doesn't pay attention to her any more. She just keeps her eyes on namunani peak, which has left him because of her own fault.
