Sun cave

Taiyang cave, one of the scenic spots in the west of Shibing County, is located on the cliff behind the ximenpo where the Hunan Guizhou highway enters Shibing county. Whenever the sun rises in the East, it will be directly directed at the cave, so it gets its name.

Development history

Taiyangdong temple was built in Xianfeng Period of Qing Dynasty. Later, because of bandits' harassment, monks were killed and temples were burned. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, a temple and a spirit palace were rebuilt, and two statues of Guanyin and Buddha were made in the main hall. Every February 19, June 19, September 19 and the first day of June in the lunar calendar is the time of the meeting. At that time, thousands of faithful men and women around the town and nearby villages will support the old and carry the young, offer incense and sacrifice to the cave, and pray for a good harvest on the first day of June.

In order to embellish the scenery of Shibing tourist city, people of insight on the West Street of the county town, such as Zheng Ruqing, Deng chenglian, Chen Nengzhi, he anying, Yang Shengzhen, Li Xiaoqun, Shen dae'e, Chen Facai, Qiu Chenghao, Hou Zhiyuan, Qian Ruide, Zhong Yinglong, Luo Changqi, Zhang Zhilan, Li zangren, etc., invited people to raise funds to rebuild the temple of taiyangdong.

Main attractions

The tourists who stay in Shibing, after having a lot of tea and dinner, walk leisurely through the West Street to the Baiti stone steps leading to the martyrs' cemetery. Keep left along the road to the material Bureau, turn right and walk 10 meters. The sun is reflected in the center of the temple, a mural like building with a towel on the cliff. Jigongyan has a poem: "when does a rooster come out of its eggshell and rush to the Liangcha River (Wuyang River and Shanmu River); when does the crown peak rise like a bucket, and the body is flapping with wings; when does the king want to be slaughtered with a bull's knife, it is hard to find a huge pot to steam in the world; when is the night of the thousand years, there is no sound of dawn in the world.". "Look at the wonder of ximenpo with nine geese, three on the bank and six on the river.
