Pingtang National Geopark

Pingtang National Geopark spans Pingtang County, which is located at the southern foot of Pinghu, Zhangbu, Yazhou, rat farm, Tangbian, Kapu, Zemi and Si. It is adjacent to Dushan County in the East, Nandan county in Guangxi in the south, Huishui and Luodian counties in the west, and Guiding County and Duyun City in the north. It is the junction of Jiuwan mountain in Guangxi and Qiannan mountain area.

Climatic characteristics

Pingtang county belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate zone, with no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. The annual average temperature is 17 ℃, the hottest in July, the monthly average temperature is 26.4 ℃, and the extreme maximum temperature is 38.1 ℃; the coldest in January, the monthly average temperature is 6.8 ℃, the extreme minimum temperature is - 7.7 ℃, and the annual active accumulated temperature is 5317 ℃. The annual frost free period is 317 days. Nianpingtang National Geopark is located in the middle of the southern edge of Guizhou Province. The average sunshine hours of Miaoling mountains are 1263 hours, and the sunshine rate is 28.6%. The annual rainfall is 1259mm.

Villages and towns. It covers a total area of 350 square kilometers, including "yushuijinpen" scenic spot, Liudong scenic spot, Longtang Lake scenic spot, Zhangbu scenic spot, Jiacha scenic spot, Yian scenic spot and dawodang scenic spot. The karst landform accounts for 80% of the total area of Pingtang National Geopark. There are four landforms: peak forest basin, peak forest depression, peak cluster depression and peak cluster funnel, which form many valuable geological landscapes. The formation of these geology is the trace left by tectonic movement in metamorphic rocks in different periods, which has important scientific research value for the geological development history of the study area, and is a special non renewable natural heritage.

Due to the wide area, continuous carbonate rocks are widely distributed, thick and pure in quality. Under the warm and rainy climate, karst landform is very developed, resulting in complex and diverse karst landscape, which constitutes the most eye-catching main body of the whole natural landscape. Due to the lifting effect of the late and recent tectonic movement, the erosion base level has been declining, which makes the surface and underground karst closely linked. There are a variety of landforms in the area, with sharp and dense cones and deep and steep canyons. Rivers often flow under or through canyons, and bend irregularly between different rock layers, forming a strange phenomenon of alternating light and dark. The karst landform is covered with many well preserved original forests, showing a variety of natural landscapes. With its rich species and unique hydrological effects, the area has become a treasure land for scientific investigation and a tourist resort for sightseeing.
