Liuyang Museum

The site of Liuyang County Museum is the original Liuyang Confucian temple, which was built in the Yuan Dynasty. The original site is in the east of the city. It was moved to the current site in 1818 and expanded in 1843. In 1986, the province, city and county funded the comprehensive maintenance. In 1990, the repair was completed and officially opened to the outside world. The people's Government of Liuyang County decided to set the Liuyang County Museum in the Confucian temple. In 1982, it was announced as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.

There are more than 2360 cultural relics in Liuyang County Museum. Among them, Pei Xiu, the Prime Minister of the dynasty, gave an ivory wat to preside over the general meeting of monks when he built Shishuang temple. There are five baht in Han Dynasty, half Liang in Qin Dynasty and Xianfeng imperial edict in Qing Dynasty.

Liuyang Museum

Liuyang museum was established in 1991. On August 1, 2014, it became a public institution with full funding and independent accounting. It mainly performs the functions of collection, research, protection and display of cultural relics in the city, and manages Tan Sitong memorial hall, Liuyang Confucian temple and Wang Zhen's Former Residence Memorial Hall.

The new museum of Liuyang City (Liuyang "three museums") is located at the intersection of Wushan road and Nanniwan Road, Jili Street Road, Liuyang City. The construction started in August 2017 and the main building construction has been completed.
