Laojieling

Laojieling is located in the north of Xixia County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, on the upper part of the south slope of Funiu Mountain, connecting Neixiang Baotianman Nature Reserve in the East. It is 23 kilometers long from east to west and 16.7 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 230000 mu.

The whole landscape of Laojieling scenic area is composed of middle mountain, with the main peak trending NW-SE and the branches extending to the south in a feather shape. The mountains are steep, the ravines crisscross, the peaks overlap, and the momentum is majestic. Jijiaojian, the main peak, is located in the northeast of Taiping Town and township. It is the boundary mountain of Xixia, Luanchuan and Song County, with an altitude of 2212.5 meters. It is the highest peak among all the peaks. It is famous for its high peak, which looks like a cock singing to the East. On sunny days, the mountain is bluish purple, clear and majestic; on overcast days, it is shrouded in clouds, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible, and its scenery is spectacular.

In 1982, Jieling established a provincial nature reserve, and in 1998, it was upgraded to a National Nature Reserve, which is the largest nature reserve in Henan Province. In 2014, Xixia Funiu Mountain Laojieling scenic spot won the national 5A scenic spot, which is the only scenic spot on the list in Henan Province.

The landform of Nanyang Xixia Laojieling nature reserve is composed of middle mountain. The main peak is NW-SE, and the branches are pinnate and extend to the south. The highest point is 2212.5 meters above sea level, the lowest point is more than 600 meters, and the relative elevation difference is more than 1600 meters. The main peaks are: qijiaojian, located in the northeast of Taiping Town and township, is the boundary mountain of Xixia, Luanchuan and Songxian counties, with an altitude of 2212.5 meters. It is the highest peak among all the peaks. It is famous for its high peak, which looks like a rooster singing to the East. On sunny days, the mountain is bluish purple, clear and majestic; on overcast days, it is shrouded in clouds, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible, and its scenery is spectacular. Laojun Mountain, located in the northwest of Taiping Town, is about 50 kilometers away from Xixia County. It is the boundary mountain of Xixia and Luanchuan counties, with an altitude of 2192.1 meters. There is Laojun temple built in Tang Dynasty on the top. According to the annals of Nanyang Prefecture written by Jiajing of Ming Dynasty, "Laojun Mountain protrudes from the cliff and looms like a cloud. It is handed down that Laozi learned Taoism here. Xixia Laojieling National Nature Reserve is rich in animal and plant resources. The forest area of the reserve is 203100 mu, and the forest coverage rate is 83.3%. There are about 2200 species of plants, including more than 1600 vascular plants, belonging to 125 families and 516 genera, It accounts for more than half of the plant species in Henan Province. There are 20 kinds of plants listed as national key protected plants, including Lianxiang tree, xiangguoshu, Eucommia ulmoides, Ginkgo biloba, walnut, shuiqingshu, Huanglian, jinqianfeng, lingchunmu, Fraxinus mandshurica, Gastrodia elata, wild soybean, Qingtan, hazelnut, Qinling fir, purple stem, tianzhugui, Hongchun, hedgehog fruit, etc.; the provincial protected objects are Taxus chinensis, Xinyi, Henan maogrape, and Lengsuo Tree, big leaf Panax notoginseng, golden hairpin, seven leaf one branch flower, Fritillaria, Henan Quanye, Henan Begonia, etc. There are 182 species of terrestrial vertebrates in 55 families, 24 orders, 4 classes, accounting for 8.6% of the national animal species and 43.5% of the animal species in Henan Province, including 30 species of Mammalia, 10 species of Reptilia, 7 species of amphibia and 135 species of ornitha. The animals listed as national protection include leopard, moxa leaf leopard, musk deer, hyena, qingtouhao, Golden Eagle, red bellied pheasant, mandarin duck, giant salamander, etc.; the animals under provincial protection include fox, raccoon dog, dog, weasel, otter, leopard cat, woodpecker, owl, flying mouse, etc. Known as the "Kingdom of natural animals and plants.".

Peak of the Heavenly Emperor

Yuhuangding, located in the northeast of Taiping Town, Xixia County, is 2203 meters above sea level. It is the boundary mountain between Xixia and Songxian County, with ancient pines hanging on the bank. It has different shapes and forms, reflecting with the surrounding mountains. Moyunduo is located in the north of SANGPING Town, with an altitude of 2075 meters. It is named after the appearance of Moyun in the peak clouds. Baishijian is located at the junction of MIPING, Jiehe and Taiping town. It is 1689 meters above sea level. It has a solitary peak, big mountains and dense forests. It produces iron ore. It is said that "chongpiling, shuahaguan, on high or baishijian". There are two stone temples at the foot of the mountain, and there are two existing "baishijian iron smelting steles" in the third year of Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. Luogu village is located in the northeast of shijiehe Township, with an altitude of 930 meters. The mountain is steep and majestic. It is famous for its huge stone like gongs and drums on the hillside. There is a stone village on the top of the mountain. There is a lookout tower in each of the two stadiums in the area, with an altitude of nearly 2000 meters. You can have a panoramic view of most of the mountains and waters in the area. In this high mountain, the trickle hanging on the top of the mountain, like silk falling, has become many large and small waterfall wonders. It is not only a good tourist and summer resort, but also an ideal place for the protection and utilization of natural resources and the exploration of the evolution law of animals and plants in the transitional area between the South and the north of China.

The Goddess Peak

Goddess Peak, also known as the folk jade peak. It is said that the three girls in the seven fairies are the incarnations left here because of their nostalgia for and companionship with the Buddha.

Funiu Mountain God

On the north side of shennv peak in Laojieling, there is a tall and upright stone peak, which looks like the statue of Laojun. From the front, the eyes, nose, mouth and outline are clear and vivid. Because it stands high on the side of the main peak of Mount Funiu, people used to call it the God of Mount Funiu.

It is said that Laozi chose qijiaojian as his first Habitat after he became an immortal in Laojun cave. Because of the heavy body of the immortal, he tilted the mountain to the South with one foot. However, Lao Tzu flew up to Jingshi mountain in the west, and changed its name from Jingshi mountain to Laojun Mountain. In this way, although Lao Tzu was in Laojun Mountain, his heart was still at the top of Qijiao mountain. In his mind, he turned his soul into a cloud of smoke and went straight to Laojie mountain. It fell quietly at the Goddess Peak not far from the top of Qijiao mountain. From then on, he became a tall and big statue and lived in peace forever. After a hundred generations, through the vicissitudes of life, it stands guard Funiu Mountain and protect the tranquility and peace of Funiu Mountain.

Horn tip

At an altitude of 2212.5 meters, it is the highest peak in the Central Plains. Looking down at the mountains, he looks like a leading cow, running forward and never looking back. The horn tip is bluish purple on sunny days, clear and majestic. When it's cloudy and rainy, it's shrouded in clouds, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible, and its scenery is extremely spectacular.

After Laojieling was designated as the nature reserve, the county Party committee and the county government formulated protection and construction measures, and the ecological environment in the nature reserve was maintained in good condition. National Highway 311 passes through Laojieling, and forest roads form a network. Fu Niu smoke clouds, vast forest, sunrise on the North roof, ancient pines, skyscrapers and other magnificent scenery amazing! Ancient and famous trees, rare birds and animals, even more admirable! Laojieling nature reserve is a beautiful natural park and a tourist attraction with boundless scenery. In October 1985, Comrade Hu Yaobang inspected the mountainous area of western Henan Province. From Luanchuan to Xixia, he left a very precious lens and a very rare Memorial in Laojieling!
