Yaowang mountain was originally named Wutai Mountain. More than 1300 years ago, Sun Simiao, one of the top ten famous doctors in China, lived in this mountain and died here. Therefore, this mountain was named Yaowang mountain.

geographical environment

Yaowang mountain is located 1.5km to the east of Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province. Its original name is Wutai Mountain. It was named after Sun Simiao, a famous medical scientist in Tang Dynasty, who lived in seclusion for a long time and was honored as "king of medicine" by the people. The mountain area is rich in forest resources and beautiful environment. The temples and palaces built in the past dynasties made Yaowang mountain a famous holy land of Yizong.

Yaowang mountain stone carvings are all over the mountain, rich and colorful. It is the place where the most statues of the Northern Dynasties and Sui and Tang Dynasties are preserved in China. In 1961, it was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit. 2018 was shortlisted in the list of "100 wonders of Northwest China". Yu Youren, a famous modern Chinese revolutionist, calligrapher and poet, Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin, a master of architecture, came to Yaowang temple to affirm the architecture and stone carving art of Yaowang mountain.

Although Yaowang mountain is not high and small in area, it has a large forest area and good terrain. It also has a hundred year old jujube forest and hawthorn forest. Moreover, the mountain has luxuriant vegetation, shady trees, elegant environment and fresh air. There are dozens of wild animals such as foxes, rabbits, pheasants and quails, and more than 100 kinds of precious Chinese herbal medicines. There are many orchards at the foot of the mountain around, and nearly 100 kinds of fruit trees such as apples, pears, grapes, jujubes, hawthorn and shanlihong grow. On the mountain is the Yao Wang Temple, which was built in the Sui Dynasty and was renamed as the memorial hall of Sun Simiao when it was rebuilt in the 1990s. There are Sun Simiao's Wooden incense Pavilion, Sun Simiao's holy water spring and fox fairy hall. It can be said that the mountains are not high, but immortals are famous.

Traffic information

Yaowang mountain scenic spot is located 1.5km to the east of Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, 70km to the south of the ancient city Xi'an and Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, 90km to the north of Huangdi mausoleum, the "ancestor of human culture". The West copper expressway, national highway 210, Xiantong and Meiqi railway pass through the foot of the mountain, so the traffic is very convenient.
