Academic concept

Hospital, in modern times and modern times, means hospital, and in ancient times it means the same.

Historical evolution

Ancient hospital and its nickname, ancient people sick where to see a doctor? At the doctor's house. But this "doctor's home" is not specific and accurate. To be exact, it should be a hospital.

In ancient times, doctors often divided their homes into some halls and rooms to set up a "medical library" for diagnosis and rest of seriously ill patients. Most of the medical centers are medicine shops and medical centers that sell medicine and diagnose diseases. The medicine shops set up by hermit doctors (miracle doctors, witch doctors, etc.) in the suburbs, deep mountains and deep valleys can also be regarded as medicine houses (this kind of medicine shop is common in novels, but most of the medicine shops in the city are pure medicine shops).

Development bottleneck

In ancient times, only the well-known senior doctors with excellent skills in traditional Chinese medicine could be invited by high officials and dignitaries to visit their families for medical treatment. Naturally, there would be a lot of rewards. How many doctors who don't worry about money will be idle and bored to open a hospital at home all day waiting for patients to come and earn some "extra money"? You know, it's better to study medical books and herbs than to earn a small sum of money from ordinary patients.

On the contrary, most of the doctors who open hospitals are talented but not well-known. If they are not well-known, naturally, few people come to visit them. In addition, those with high status naturally seek "good" (well-known) doctors, while those with low status are poor and reluctant to spend their "spare money" to see a doctor. Generally speaking, they only drink ginger soup and white water when they are sick, and they can make it through.

As a result, the hospital was deserted, and many doctors began to work as part-time pharmacists. However, there were still many people who could not open the hospital. Therefore, there were very few ancient hospitals.

Zhuge World Medical Center

Zhuge Medical Museum is located in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province, China. Since the Ming Dynasty, Zhuge people in Lanxi mainly engaged in traditional Chinese medicine. It is said that this is adhering to the ancestral motto of "if you are not a good prime minister, you are a good doctor.". Later, they gradually grew in this industry. In the middle and late Qing Dynasty, Zhuge people opened their traditional Chinese Medicine pharmacies to all parts of Zhejiang Province, and even to major cities in the country, forming a commercial Gang called "Lanxi medicine Gang", which flourished for a time. At the same time, it also created many gorgeous and exquisite residential buildings in Zhuge village today.
