Xionggu city is located in the north of Saitama County, with a population of about 200000. It is also one of the major cities in the north of Saitama county. During the Edo period, this was Suchang, which belonged to Zhongshan Road and was called Xionggu suku, so it was a prosperous place with Suchang town.
In the city, there are national highway 17 (Zhongshan Road), the main trunk line, as well as the Shangyue Shinkansen railway, which is an important traffic point. On October 1, 2005, Xionggu City merged with kanuma town and Dali town of Dali Prefecture to form a new Xionggu city. On February 13, 2007, Jiangnan Town of Dali County was incorporated into the merger, becoming the first city with 200000 people in the north of Saitama county. It became a special case in 2009.
At the same time, kumagawa is also one of the business nuclear cities designated by Japan.
On August 16, 2007, Kumagawa City reached 40.9 degrees, the highest temperature in the history of Japan. It also broke the 40.8 degrees in Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture, on August 25, 1933.
